I do not like this feeling of loneliness that I am experiencing with my depression. I have been this way for years and it doesn't seem to let up at all. I don't have much support from family and I don't have any friends to help me to cope with my depression and feelings of worthlessness. How do you cope with this and what suggestions would you recommend for someone like me?

Girlie,

Your feelings of loneliness resulting from depression are a normal consequence of the condition. I feel that way too most of the time, so as the saying/song goes you are not alone in being alone! I also don't have or don't "feel" I have much support from family or friends either. Reaching out and connecting with people who do understand and share your experience is how you cope and get better! You will find that here! You're not worthless, if you truly thought that you would not be posting here! One suggestion... Humor for anxiety forum. The best antidote for depression.

Take Care,
`

Try to remember you are not alone. In these tapes and others there a real people who understand those feelings, go to the tapes for a little compainionship as well as these forums. Sometimes we feel our families and friends can't understand, or it is just simply hard to reach out to them. Remember others are here that feel the pain your dealing with and know you are on the right track.

The tapes do help with the loneliness. I could be surrounded by all who loved me and still feel as though I was isolated on an island. But, when I listen to the tapes, no matter what I am doing, I would get past the awful feeling. It takes constant ..Practice Practice...and persistence.
Don't give up, fight back with the techniques:)
