Concerned about what others think
One of the traits that successful people seem to have is they live their lives and are not worried about what others think of them. Looking back over my life, I think that worrying about others' opinions has been responsible for much of my stress and anxiety. The problem is how really do you get to that point? I've read books and meditated, and nothing seems to stick. I can seem to break free for awhile and with certain people, but it always comes back. I mean how can you NOT be concerned about what your boss thinks? I'm wondering if anyone else has insights into this.

Re: Concerned about what others think
I have dealt with that so much, and after really looking at my thinking it took up good deal of my time. I was just reading something in From Panic to Power, where Lucinda says sometimes when someone is critical of us in a good way or bad, to take a 10 sec. pause before we react, asking ourselves what can I learn from this. Not necessarily meaning that person is right but trying to get the best out of the situation. I haven't really tried it yet, but maybe that would be something to think about. Also maybe addressing in the written self-talk, go over what they said and possible responses we could use. Sometimes the written self-talk is hard for me, so I journal first get it all out then I have some negatives to work with. Take care.

I agree with mosaic, but also its ok to have some concern with say what your boss thinks of you, but its what you do with that and how you let it affect you that makes the difference. I know I still have a great ways to go with this... just a thought....
