Stuttering

Post by Chessware » Fri Dec 09, 2011 8:01 pm

My panic or anxiey invloves stuttering. I have always stuttered somewhat growing up. But ever since my divorce my stuttering has gotten alot worse. It used to happen only when I had to give a presentation in front of others but now it's happening in everyday conversation. It makes me feel so embarresed. I'm having more and more problems getting my thoughts together.

It makes me feel like I'm not intelligent. I'm afraid that some people my reach this conclusion but that's not the case at all. I am very intelligent...but just don't know how to express myself. I want to go out and meet different people but it's hard...so hard to have one on one conversations...I prefer a group setting. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? What can I do to get relief?

Hi Chess. Unfortunately I know nothing about stuttering. Could The King's Speech be helpful? Are there perhaps specific support groups? Consult with a speech therapist?

Wishing you the best. Maybe you can educate us. We are here to listen and learn and be supportive.
