Can anybody help me?
Hi my names Josh ive recently been suffering severe anxiety since a traumatic experience happened in my already sometimes subtle existence called my life, 6 months ago. Ive developed what i believe to be DEEPLY rooted fears and fobias, a consistant on edge way of thinking, effects on my emotions and perception of reality, and a fear, that I'll never get better. Its a lot. Ive recently just ordered lucinda bassett's Combatting Stress and Depression Program program, and frankly cant wait to recieve it in the mail. My typical day includes school perhaps a counseling session and nothing else. I am also(hate to be such the debbie downer) batteling schizophrenia and, have been for 2 years now, im slaying a two-headed dragon being my ptsd/anxiety and my sz. Im making progress tho, becoming a more fluid conversationalist with my family, :/, or
, i think things like that are key tho, maybe its because im having shifts in brain chemistry, im realizing my deeper intentions and the top three on that list are connection, connection, connection. My ultamite reason for posting is because i have questions, #1 when you have deeply rooted anxiety, CAN YOU, get in between those thoughts and have healthier ones, #2 if youve done the program have you gotten off the meds? And i think #3 what are some key things, anyways i will have tremendous appreciation for any replies, and thanks a lot gotta keep fighting the good fight.

Josh,
First of all, welcome. You will find the folks here are some of the best you may never meet! It sounds like you have your plate quite full. Just kick back and relax. While you are waiting for this awesome program read all the posts here you can. Some people, like me, find that just reading while you wait can help. I found that the more I read the more I realized Im not the only one going thru these things. To answer your questions: 1. you most certainly can get thru those thoughts and you will with this program! 2. I havent made it all the way thru the program but I have indeed reduced my meds. I started on four and now am down to two. 3. Probably the most important key is the relaxation CD. Do it. when you get done, do it again! And again, and again and again!!!!! Do the workbook every day! I know they tell you to do it AT LEAST every other day or something like that but the more you do the more you get out of it.
Read the posts here no matter where you are in the program! You'll see others have been thru what you are going thru. They havent been thru EXACTLY what you're going thru but similar. No one suffers the same because you are an individual. Post very often! Others here will be helpful. I don't think I can state this enough but STAY CLOSE TO THIS SITE!
Again welcome and hope to "see you around"

Welcome CerealEater12, I like Wheatchex whats your favorite?
Kinda sounds like you worry to much, As Wildcard mentioned we must relax now and then. I don't know what rattled your world and sorry that the crystal got broken. Maybe things were presented as real when in reality nothing is real. Everything and everyone changes. Search for your truth and give thought to writing down the angers or hates which are on replay.
We will help as you break that bad record.
Thanks for sharing and having the strength to keep looking foward, as that is what will get us thru our daily challanges.
The little train that "could" carrys alot of our unmanageable fears. As with life his motto was and is. I think I can, I know I can, and all the way too "I can". You can also get over the mountain. 1 step at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself, the ptsd will hang around only as long as we give it a place to hang it's hook.
Have a great day.

Can anybody help me?
This is the 3rd time I've tried to post this, and its been deleted so I will make this extremely short. If you have any furthers questions about me, please ask. My name is Jason McGrady, I'm 34 years old. In Summer 2005, I had a TIA (MINI STROKE) that lasted only 30 min and I made a full recovery. According tot he doctors I have a PFO ( Miniature flap/hole in my heart). Apparently, I had a blood clot in my leg that went through the flap and up to my brain. Right up to this moment here on MArch 28, 2010, I suffer from constant daily Panic Attacks, and stress, about what happened and what could possibly happen. My way of thinking is, well, I had a stroke, so what's to keep me from having something else happen to me. i.e. HEART ATTACK! SO I constantly worry about that. My worst fear is seeing stars. The reason for this is when I had my stroke, I saw hundreds of stars. That scared the hell out of me!!!! Today, I got my son out of his crib, I changed his diaper, changed his clothes, and took him to the kitchen for breakfast, and as I began to sit him down, I saw a star out of the corner of my eye. It instantly made me start to panic and it took me back to my event, and it even made me lightheaded! These are thing s that makes my life difficult. I will admit, I probably see a lot more stars than regular people, because I have to 5 mg of Warfarin (BLOOD THINNERS), since the PFO is too small for device closure. So, I have to take Warfarin for the rest of my life, unless there are any medical advance in miniature device closure. In the meantime, I'm stuck taking Warfarin, which makes it easy to see stars, and creates multiple daily panic attacks because seeing stars was a part of my stroke. So, how can I not panic about that. Recently, I tried out the Trial CD's from you guys, and on Disc 3, it scared the crap out of me. On Disc 3, during the group session, there's a 48 year old woman who says that she was under so much stress that it caused her to have a heart attack, and even according to the doctor, stress & anxiety was the cause of her heart attack. THAT REALLY SCARED ME!!!! So, now I'm worrying about that. I know you hear this a lot, but I felt feel like my situation is different from most. I really feel this way. Also, there was a time when the occasional eye floaters didn't bother me, but it does now. Sometimes, I tend to catch myself watching the eye floaters get in the way of what I'm paying attention to. It's really frustrating!! I was never like this until my stroke, I really hate this! Any words of advice for my situation?

Jason, Welcome.
You laid out some very real facts. Micro science has came along ways and is still adapting quickly so keep optimistic about the Heart fix. You are still young and maybe in a way it has saved your life. Had that happened 10 or 20 yrs from now you could be on a star. The more you can educate yourself and focas on nutrition and blood health and exercise the more confident you will be.
What if when you get the floaters use it as a reminder to maybe take even deep breaths, in threw the nose and out threw the mouth and recollect the moment. Take a mental quicktest for anything odd and relax abit. Easier said than done I understand. Fretting about it may kill ya, so even if you slap yourself to change the thought it is in your best interest to do so. It will take some inner reminding of yourself and before you know it, it can be a learned habit or maybe a healthy dicipline.
Glad you did not give up on your story when the first times did not work.
As Spock would say "live long and prosper".
That baby will need ya, so don't go running off.

Hi Jason,
Thank you for sharing so much of your health issues with us, and being so honest and straight forward.
Clearly, when you see "stars", this is a trigger for you. It brings you back to another time and place, when you weren't safe, and your life was possibly in danger.
Soldiers suffer from "triggers" when they hear loud noises, or bangs or explosions. People who have survived fires suffer from triggers too, etc., etc.
I am using these examples to remind you that you are not alone with your anxiety and to me, (I am not a doctor or a medical professional, but I have survived very serious heart issues, and every single person on my father's side has died of a massive heart attack) to me, it sounds like you are suffering from PTSD in addition to overwhelming anxiety, which can actually make your symptoms worse. (how is that for the longest run on sentence in history)
I suggest you ask your doctor to prescribe a mild anti anxiety medication. This is different from an anti depressant. It is meant to calm you and help you regain some control. I take a mild dose of klonopin (sp) and it helps me when I feel tremendous stress.
This does not mean to not practice the CD's, but I think if you combine the CD's (positive thinking) with the anti anxiety meds, and possible talk therapy with a therapist, you will benefit a great deal.
A TIA is your body giving off a warning sign, so to speak. Be grateful that you had the warning. (positive thinking) and look into an anti anxiety med.
Best of luck to you.
Loveslife.
