The Program

Post by leialoha3 » Wed Mar 16, 2011 10:01 am

I am on session 3 and Feel I am getting nowhere, Although I have listened to every cd and done my workbook I am having a hardtime applying this to my everyday life.Am I moving through this to fast ? I cant seem to remember what I have heard but I think when I listen to a cd that it makes sense. I feel like I am in a tornado and I cant get out. I would love to work through this with someone just to make sure I am getting something. I am desperate and So want to learn how. The other thing I am struggling with is the journaling..... What do I write about ? I know how I feel and live it everyday. Is writing it down a way to let it go? Or something I reflect back on ? Should I start over from the beginning again? I am so confused and to the point of tears. Please any advice is greatly appreciated.

I feel the same way kim....i always go to bed with the hope that tomorrow will be better but everyday i wake up with the horrible anxiety that makes my heart race and skip beats and then im ruined for the day. I try so hard to ignore it but I cant. I feel like I am dying on the inside and am trying with everything I have to fight it and stay strong but it is tiring. What I write about in my journal is the things that are bothering me and how i hope to change them. It gives you a little bit of hope at least for a little while. Another thing I have started is meditation...this has helped me a little bit. It really does relax you and then when I start feeling anxious I try to remember that relaxed feeling i had from the meditation. I just hope and pray that over time things will get better. Im only on the 3rd week as well and i do see how your reaction to the anxiety is the determining factor on how bad the anxiety will get and how long it lasts but it still feels like crap and it is very exhausting trying to control it all the time. Im just going to go through the whole program and see how i feel at the end...if i need to do it again then i will.

Hello. It could be that you are going through the program too quickly. If you don't seem to "get" a lesson then do it again. Don't move too fast. Enjoy each lesson. You may also want to go to the "Program" section of the forum which has sections devoted to each lesson. There are some great people in there that you can follow along with. It may be beneficial to start over and follow along with the "Program" section of this forum for each lesson. Look up some posts by NinjaFrodo. He is extremely helpful. Also, don't forget to do your relaxation exercise at least once each day. You will do fine. Just take it easy and don't try and rush through it. It's the baby steps that count. Good luck!

Yes, Kim, it helps to write your feelings down, so that you aren't obsessing over them. There is something therapeutic about writing or journaling your thoughts. That's why it helps many of us to write down our feelings or frustrations here at StressCenter.com so other's can help us sort out our thinking patterns. I also admonish you to follow Ninja's Session threads as he helps direct us to follow the program's outline and tips. Here's hoping you some better days ahead. Paisleegreen

Hi, I dont usually post in the forum. I will be soooo glad when chat is back.

I completed the program in sept 2004.. I come into chat and to this forum in order to give back to this program for all it has given to me. I come to chat to give support, to get support, and to see some great friends i have made over the years.
With this program you will learn a set of skils and tools to deal with this crap. But with any set of skills and tools you learn you have to continue to practice the fundamentals you learn in the program if you want them to stay proficient.

After completition of the first session, each of the next sessions is designed to be completed in one week. You can always go back and repeat a session. In order to incorporate the information in each session, it is imperative to do the assignments in the workbooks. Its like trying to learn to play basketball. In order to become proficient in any set or skill it takes time. With basketball, you can watch all the videos and read all the information, but then you must get out on the court and throw baskets in order to become proficient in basketball. In order to become proficient on the piano, you must sit down and touch the keys and play. The workbooks assignments are similar to getting on the basketball court so to speak. And even after completion of the 15 wks you will need to continue to practice the skills and tools of the program in order to stay proficient in using the skills you have learned.

By the way, the information in each session is based on information from previous weeks. So try to do the sessions in order. Good luck to you all. Hope to see you soon
Be very gentle with yourself, take one week at a time, and do the assignments with each week.

The program has worked for soooo many people because they did the work with the program. It is not a quick fix. Go slow, take one session a week, and yuo can always go back and repeat sessions.
