Okay so I bought the program, now what?
I got the program about 3 weeks ago and have just finished session 2 and none of this comes very naturally to me.I find all kinds of excusses not to sit and listen to the sessions or do the workbook. I've always appeared to be strong and self assured and tried to think of myself that way, most of my 'freinds ' would not believe that I am doing something like this because I usually seem to have it all together, but I know that's not true. So I guess what I am looking for is how do You get yourselve going with the program? I've tried regular therapy and went through 3 therapist's with no luck so I thought I would give this a try. Please let me know your thoughts.
Stacy,
I am on my second time through, listening to the CDs from the beginning. It does take a lot of discipline, but the more you make yourself do it, the more amazed you'll be at the changes in your habitual thinking patterns. Sometimes I listen during a forced "nap" time, lying down (helps if you do the relaxation tape first); another way is to listen while you are working on something that does not take a lot of concentration, so you can concentrate on what is being said. The bottom line is: you did not get this program for free, so if you are truly motivated to get better, you will find the discipline to LISTEN; also, the workbooks are paramount. They actually help me more than the CDs a lot of times. Highlight the things that apply to you and memorize things that make sense and will help reprogram your brain. If this helps me, it can help anyone--had anxiety and depression for SIXTY years! Prayer along with this is recommended!
