I have been in Recovery for two years, but My issue is that I still think about my anxiety and panic everyday not in a bad way but more in a obsessive way, I feel like I have thought about this (FEAR,PANIC,Anxiety) so long that if I don't dwell on it,,,it will come back in spades. When I had my first panic attack someone told me that's your body dealing with something you won't..... so you got it everytime I had a panic attack I thought I was ignoring something.whicb I know is not true thanks to the program.Any insight would be helpful I have had so many breakthroughs and I feel like I'm close again
Thanks

Lionsfan,

A lot of people who have anxiety get obsessed with things, at least I do. That in of itself sometimes even makes anxiety. I think you should be really proud of yourself for realizing you have a problem and going after fixing it! Give yourself a pat on the back :) Also, since you've had so many breakthrough's I think you're on the right path. For me I've realized that after I've had a panic attack it was because I wasn't dealing with something, but a lot of times it's because I'm nervous about an upcoming event or I'm trying to overcome a phobia or it's in a social situation I don't feel comfortable in. So yeah, there's lots of different reasons people have panic attacks as far as I know. It's easy to get obsessed with anxiety and solving the problem because you want it to be gone so badly! Just try to relax :)

Very interesting and true insight. I've never seen or heard this before but it makes perfect sense that the anxiety/depression comes from something you aren't dealing with. Sounds so simple- don't know why I haven't run across it before but it sure does apply to me. I'll be looking at things a lot differently now. THANKS SO MUCH!

Well, when I was working with a Psychologist and I had my first panic attack, he did ask me what I was afraid of. I was at the time afraid of something, and that was I was told that I was going to have to get rid of some of my stuff. I ruminated over what did he mean by that and that is when I had my panic attack. I still have anxiety and I'm seeing a different psychologist, but it is taking longer since he isn't as available to see as my other one was, but he is so much better so far to work with me on some family issues.
