Hi,

I am trying to journal all my negative thoughts, but, it seems overwhelming and I end up feeling more depressed. Help! How did you handle it?

I reread the work book. Are we supposed to just note each time we have a negaive thought as opposed to writing them all down? I tried this program years ago and think this is were I got tripped up. So, it means a lot to me to understand this section.

Hi NNancy--You are suppose to have a little notebook with you that you write down your negative thoughts has they happen. Then there is a way that you refute them or put the "lie" in the thought.

NinjaFrodo has put this in more detail. Also, others have put down a TEA form or another form is what Dr David Burns uses in his Feeling Good New Mood Therapy book which Ninja has copied those different thought "busters" or "helps" on one of the Sessions, probably this one.

Anyway, I was able to wean off of Wellbutrin and Xanax through the help of a Psychologist using this type of thinking and also assertiveness training. Includes was Dr David Burns 10 Steps to Self-Esteem Workbook which has this working form in it.

I only have Lucinda's CDs and just bought her book From Panic to Power which should be helpful for me since I am missing Lesson 7 and another CD. Good to see you here! :)

I am feeling super negative about how overwhelming catching these thoughts and trying to form a positive comeback for it. It is wearing me out. I start stressing about how I am thinking. Any thoughts and encouragements are welcome. How did you get through these thoughts and this step without wearing yourself out? Maybe I am just trying to do it perfectly so I don't feel uncomfortable...I don't know. Please help! :(

Sorry Nancy...I didn't finish, that normally I try to tell myself that this won't last and pray for strength. Sometimes I panic that it isn't working because I still feel this way at the time but it takes time to overcome this and to allow yourself not to be perfect even when it comes to tackling negative thoughts.
