My husband is getting frustrated with me and insisted that I apply for Social Security Disability for my Anxiety Disorder. Has anyone applied for it and actually got it?

Need any help in this area. Thank you in advance.

Madimac, my husband has also suggested that I try for Disability for the anxiety as it has been going on for so long. I don't know what to do. I am currently very Agoraphobic, and have been diagnosed with GAD and panic attacks too. I guess I have enough documentation to support me but I don't feel like going through the whole process and I desire to be well one day.

I, too, am on disability. I didn't stand a chance without a lawyer and was turned down when I tried it on my own.

The lawyers will usually give you a free consultation, even over the phone, and tell you you're chances. Be sure to list all the disorders you have, if any, other than anxiety. They will usually take your case on a pay only if you win basis. I think they got 5,300 out of my back pay, which I'm not sure how it was determined. But I paid nothing up front.
Good luck to you. It is my dream to go back to work one day if only as a volunteer- peer counselor. You can also have a part time job if you like and make so much a year before your benefits are cut. Try the ssa.gov website for more info.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by Disability, except that my brother, although "cured" from Leukemia really cannot hold a job. So he qualifies and gets Disability. He already had to have a hip replacement surgery done due to his hip bone crumbling due to the extensive chemo he received before a blood stem cell transplant that saved his life.

My sister has never been able to hold a job and they diagnosed her with Schizophrenia. I don't consider her suffering from that completely as I have worked in the Mental Illness field, but have probably seen the extremes. I think she was diagnosed with that to get SSI. I think her G.A.D. and ADD keeps her a bit paranoid. And she really doesn't get the best treatment for it due to her circumstances.

Now I could be wrong if that isn't the right term for Disability. She has family, that can help her, but she chooses to live her way in the circumstances of her choosing with delusional thoughts of learning how to use the computer and sell stuff she collects on Ebay.

She won't let anyone in to even hook up a computer. I have let go on trying to change her or point out the facts. I just listen to her and know that eventually she will have to resign to the fact that she will probably never learn the computer well enough to sell things on Ebay at her age and isolation.

She has Lucinda's CDs but never listened to them until "she is ready", so she is sending them to me. Even though she was the one that put me onto Lucinda, because I have never heard of her before until my sister told me.

OK, off topic.
