I am 31 years old and new to the program (2nd week.) I've been having problems with ED and severe anxiety and depression. The problem is I'm not sure if the ED problem, which I've had in one degree or another for about 12 years, is the cause or the result of my anxiety and depression which I've also had for about 12 years. I've been to a urologist and other specialists and they have found nothing conclusive that would cause the ED on a physical level but I'm just not sure.
Is there anyone out there who has also had a problem with ED accompanying your anxiety?
Has anyone gone thru the program and helped the ED problem to either diminish or disappear?
I would appreciate any input or advice in this area you could provide. Thank you.
Problems with ED
I wish I could give you some advice but being female I can't. I have though, been in a relationship with a man who had this but he would never admit it was possibly due to anxiety (I knew it was). I think it's great that you realize it may be anxiety caused. You could possibly find a therapist who deals specifically with this issue and also go through this program. It's worth a try. Hope you hear from some men on here that can help you with this.
My cousin had this issue. He suffered from anxiety/panic/depression/ocd/hypochondriac. He took every medication prescribed but it seldomly helped him, but not always. He was also in the porn business so he was really struggling. From making $15,000.00 per month to 0 he hit the bottom line. He saw many urologists, many specialist up and down the coast of California....they were only able to give temporary assistance with injections and pills. Until he discovered what the anxiety/panic ....the root of all of it was he then was healed. He saw a psycotherapist who helped him in identifying the root cause. The death of his young sister 25 years ago. Since addressing the issue he is back to normal...and back in business. I'm not proud of his business then again it isn't any of my business. But I was the one who took him to all of his appts. Now his ego and self esteem are back up and medication free....Even though he know his occupation isn't favorable he still gives Glory to God....
I was once on Effexor which caused my ED. However, I am also an old guy. ED apparently also occurs with advancing age. Since my doctor recently discovered a low level of testosterone, he has prescribed hormone injections for me which have helped. I have also switched to Lexapro which seems to have helped.
I'm 42 and yes, anxiety and depression can certainly cause ED. Once it starts to happen, before you get together with your partner you start asking yourself if it will happen again. Once you've asked yourself that, it's too late. You need to just go in there and concentrate on the good feelings that sex brings and it will happen. If not, it's no big deal. I can remember my wife stopping things after 30-45 minutes saying "it's not happening tonight" and feeling "less of a man". I eventually learned that it was mainly the Lexapro I was taking and once I was off that, I was back to being a performer. Once I realized the connection between Lexapro and ED, the expectations of sex changed and my wife and I were much more comfortable in knowing what was happening with me.
