okay now that i have proven that i am the wierdest person on these boards (or maybe even the world) i have one more.

did anybody else get anxious while listening to the relaxation cd for the first time. the whole time i was thinking "when is this thing going to get thru?" i was so closterphobic(sp?), someone might as well have been holding a pillow over my face. Does it get better? because i dont want to do it again. but i will, in the morning (i hop i get up in time)

Hi imkay. Yes, I got really anxious when first listening to it and couldn't get through it. It took several attempts for me to be able to actually relax and enjoy the cd. I think it's becuase we are so uptight and stressed and feel that we can't "stay in one place" for 20-30 minutes in case we have to get up and move. Keep trying. It will get better after a few times.

Yes, I also was anxious while listening to the relaxation disk several times. It does get better, but I have to admit that I have actually ignored listening to it regularly. ONce I start compromising a little bit, I completely fall of the wagon with whatever it is I'm doing for some reason. I began avoiding it by rationalizing that it's not that important...it's just relaxing for 15 minutes. I was really impatient and did not want to sit through it. It IS VERY important however. Lucinda says on one of her audios that when we don't feel like taking care of ourselves, that's when we need to the most. I think this is true in terms of doing the things we avoid or don't feel like doing at all...the things that make us anxious - those are the very things that we MUST DO in order to get past them and move on with our lives. Doing the relaxation REGULARLY is very important to our recover, and the fact that we have a hard time even doing it is evidence for that fact. Trust me ,it does get better, just use the positive self talk before you listen....say things like..."relaxation is good for me; it's what I need; relaxation is healthy; I'm taking care of myself by listening to this disk; it's good to relax" etc ect.

What's wrong with being weird? Normal is boring.
