I am wondering if anyone has actually gotten over a driving on the highway. I have driven forever but just had this problem for the past 9 years. I don't think I will ever get over it. I think I have a fear of speed and how do you drive on the highway with a fear of speed! Any comments??

I too have had issues with driving over the years. I got Carolyn's cd "On the road again" when I was doing the program. It really helps. When I have a "growth spurt" I bring it out and play it while I am driving. It really helps! We can do this....

I have had this anxiety and phobia for years. I can drive in the city but not on highways, especially divided ones. I can drive as a passenger, but not drive the car. I have come close to beating this a few times but have never fully gotten over it. It so restricts my travel. I must check on that CD mentioned above. Perhaps it will help.

This is probably one of my biggest fears. I never drove on a highway until a couple of years ago and I'm 51. My mom needed to go to a hospital to a consultation for a surgery she was having. My husband was supposed to take us but he wasn't going to be home on time. I had no choice, I had to take her. My 1st biggest struggle is merging, 2nd speed. I got on fine all times I had to take her and don't know how I did it because recently I had to get on the same highway for an interview and my heart pounded and my hands were frozen to the wheel. Getting back onto the highway coming home was a nightmare. I looked in my side mirror and cars and trucks were close, then the guy behind me merged first. Til this day I don't know how I got on that highway. I keep going over in my mind "how did I not get into a major crash"? I just blindly merged. I wished there was easier ways to do it. I even looked it up on the internet...not much I didn't know already. I also found myself not being able to go fast enough and everybody was passing me up...oh well! If anybody out there has any easy answers, please let us know.
