Hi Skaagent7. Yes, I know exactly what you're going through with the whole "off balanced" feeling. Are you taking any new medications or have you recently stopped taking anything?

I was on Lexapro (10 mg) for over 3 and a half years and was doing well for the most part. Then I noticed my mouth was constantly dry and I had terrible headaches all the time. It got so bad one day at work, I wound up passing out at work and since that day (Sept 07) I've had this off balanced feeling and it too, scares the heck out of me. I've seen two neurologists, had a MRI which came out fine, had all sorts of blood test dones (from CBC, to thyroid, to nutrient levels) and everything has come out fine... I tried going on other anxiety medications that have helped me in the past (such as Paxil, and tried Lexapro again among many others) and then I got migraines so bad I couldn't function. Then the doctor gave me Cymbalta and I had a terrible reaction and the off-balance thing became much worse. I've been living with this terrible scary feeling for over a year and nobody seems to know what is causing this to happen.

The off-balance thing happens to me every-day at all random hours. I will be completely calm and still have this and when I try and stand up, it's like sandbags weighing me down. Is that how you feel?

If you haven't seen a neurologist, I would suggest going to one, but unfornately in my case nobody (out of many doctors) can understand this feeling and then they refer me to all these different therapists when I just want my balance back.

Also - keep a journal of when this happens. I hope you start feeling better soon and if there is anybody out there who may have gone through this feeling as well - PLEASE let us know what you did, to get better. Thank you.

I would get an off balance feeling at times in open areas but only when I would stand still like in shopping lines or waiting for something when others are around. That was before I took xanax which is like a "calming medication". For me I know its just a part of anxiety so I'm trying to learn to change my thought processing and not even rely on medication.

I'm not sure if you have withdrawn from medications but some people may get a similar feeling temporarily when they withdraw from medications. Again, I know mine is just anxiety in public situations. I'm not sure if this is helps.

Hello!Yes I get this way alot!My Dr. says it's the anxiety.I seem to agree because When I've gotten my anxiety levels under control I don't seem to have that feeling.I know that it's scary but we have to try and not let it scare us.If we feed the fear of it it will seem worse.A big symptom under the anxiety symptoms is dizziness.I really do hate the feeling.Sometimes it feels like i'm walking on a boat.Sometimes I just get a quick spin.I hope this helps you. You're not alone.Take care and God bless!

Saagent,
how are you? Yes, i suffer from teh same symptoms of anxiety. i believe they are from anxiety, only i have them more inside. I think it is from a build up of "stress hormones". have you done the program?

mollysmom,Hi!I feel the exact same way so it really must be the anxiety. We have to be determined not to let it control us.I was also housebound.I just started going out this last Spring.Good for us! :)This is a difficult symptom but we just have to believe that even though it's uncomfortable that we're going to keep pushing through!I wish you much luck with this.Keep pressing forward.I believe we'll get control of these feelings.God bless!
