Has anyone noticed a mood lift from taking the omega 3 fish oils? My endocrinologist recommended this to me and have been taking 1,000 to 2,000 mg for awhile now and have definitely notice a change in my mood but am not sure if it is just a placebo effect. Anyone else out there taking it?

Hi
I started taking it a few weeks ago and my mood seems slightly elevated and I have noticed a definite change in my food cravings. I use to be unable to turn down ice cream and other sweets and now they don't seem nearly as enticing.

Omega 3 fish oils is one of the suppliments I was told by my pharmacist to take along with Flax. I forget the other one, since I'm only taking the two right now, for peri-menopause symptoms, and I feel them the last week or so making a difference. I can't take hormone replacement with a breast cancer history in the family, so I was told to take the above. Keep up with the omegas Mary, and I'm glad your feeling better. Glad for you too Radar! Take care!

I saw a phychopharmacologist a while back and he highly recommended omega-3. He has seen major improvement with this suppliment in addition to as well as without meds. He recommended coromega. Its more potent and comes in little packets that you can take on the go or mix in with food. They also have a lemon lime or orange flavor so you dont get the "fish burp" for the rest of the day. You can buy them at GNC stores.
I took them all through my pregnancy and they are supposed to really help with brain development in fetuses. And Ive been taking them on and off for the past year and a half. (They are kinda expensive) but well worth it, I think. I defenitly see an improvment in my mood when Im taking it on a regular basis. Who cares if its placebo effect, if you think it works, its as good as working, right?
Come to think of it, Ive been skimping quite a bit lately, maybe thats why Iv'e been feeling not up to par...thanks for the reminder!

mmk22- You are right. If it's working why do I care if it's a placebo effect?
