can a person become accustomed to prescription meds?
I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I have been on Lexapro and Trazodone for about 3 years and it seems as though I have to have the dosage adjusted to higher levels about every 6 months. I am now at the limit for both of these meds and my question is: does your body get "used" to the meds or do you start to metabolize them differently so that they are no longer effective?
Hi..yes, your body needs more and more...I was only on Ativan 2 months when I needed more but was getting side effects so the doctor added Celexa..that was even worse...so I stopped Celexa and now am getting off Ativan but it is very addicting and very hard to get off...
My symptoms are so bad and the drug isn't really helping very much now but luckily I found a site to help me get off safely and get the nutrients the drug has robbed my body of back into my system...It is also supposed to help the anxiety!
Just getting the word out wherever I can...Please take a look at

Alesandra Rain is the co-founder and a wonderful gal,,,she even called me personally on one of her weekend days off...I am sure her program is going to help....it has helped people everywhere...

Auntiem,
I agree with EVERYTHING Karin said. My psychiatrist calls it habituation. The website she recommended is excellent (I just found it after reading another post). It's truly unbelievable the essential nutrients these meds are depleting our bodies of.
Hey, don't feel bad- I'm not condeming... right now I'm in the same boat as you (i'm actully on more meds). Another website that I found informative is www.theroadback.org. It reaffirms everything in the previous site and the recommended supplements are nearly identical (I didn't compare $). I've purchased these products but am waiting until I can get rid of my acid reflux before I start the pre-taper.
One thing I really like about theroadback is that it's in pre-publication, and you can actually read the information chapter for chapter for yourself.
Hope this is helpful,
