progesterone cream for anxiey/Birthcontrolpills
i went to a health store and the holistic knowledgeable woman who worked there told me she thinks that my panic/anxiety/depression are due to my low progesterone levels. she told me she wants me to get off my birth control pills because she thinks that is something that is attributing to my anxiety/panic disorder and how its so bad for woman because it blocks progesterone with estrogen . i just bought some natural IBS supplements and progesterone cream. she told me how to apply it and where to (once in the morning and at night and showed me where to apply it when i am especially anxious) she said some drs prescribe anti-deps to woman when really its hormonal and not chemical. Now my question is: has anybody used progesterone cream and stopped using BC pills due to your anxiety and has your anxiety/panic/depression stopped or decreasede?
"Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)"
This is certainly something to consider. I've been married 30 years. When we first got married my wife went on birth control but the pills caused her to be sleepy and depressed. If you knew my wife you would know immediately that this is not characteristic of her. When she went off of them things returned to normal. She doesn't recall any anxiety, but definitely a lot of depression caused by the pills.she told me she wants me to get off my birth control pills because she thinks that is something that is attributing to my anxiety/panic disorder and how its so bad for woman because it blocks progesterone with estrogen
I used the natural compounded progesterone prescribed by my doctor for two weeks every month and yes it helped my moods and insomnia. Had a very calming effect. I wasn't on BC at the time but I was thought to be estrogen dominate (could be similar to too much estrogen from BC's-?) If the over the counter progest. is not working I would check with your doctor for a prescription for the natural cream compounded by a good pharmacist. The dosage can be tricky and not quite the same for everyone.
i used compounded progesterone before my cycle to stop menstrual migraines.
Don't quote me but i read that post partum depression could be caused from a drop in hormones after delivery and something simiar happens for those with PMS on a smaller scale. I would certainly do some reading on hormone replacement therapy and maybe call a pharmacy who does that compounding and ask for a doc recommendation. I think a little adjustment in doseage makes a lot of difference- but maybe the woman at the store knows about how that works.

Here's some good info on progesterone cream:

This is the only thing in there you might want to compare to the ingredients in the one you bought:
Some companies are trying to sell diosgenin, which they label "wild yam extract" as a medicine or supplement, claiming that the body will then convert it into hormones as needed. While we know this can be done in the laboratory, there is no evidence that this conversion takes place in the human body.
