Hi guys...
OK so for years when I wake up in the morning or when I get up from laying down on my back for a while and take a deep breath I have this sensation of pressure in my chest/stomach area. It feels like something is pushing against something else when I breath deeply, but it only happens with that first breath and then it is gone (unless i lay down for awhile again). I have been obsessed with thinking that I have a hiatal hernia for awhile now. The thing is I don't seem to get significant heartburn or acid reflux. I mean after I eat I may feel a little burn but hardly even noticable most of the time. I do burp a lot, but sometimes that takes a little work because it feels like its stuck a lot and has to work its way out. Anybody had a hiatal hernia that can comment or has any ideas for me?
I went to the doctor and described it but he didn't seem to think much of it...and I hate to go back AGAIN :)

Hi Priv3060,

I am sorry to get back to you so much later in the day. I had a couple of appointments I had to go to. As for the strange feelings, I get these things a lot, but I have several things going that it could be. In my case the majority of the time they go away using the breathing techniques.

In your case, I don't know, but if your Dr is not sure or doesn't seem too concerned, try another Dr. that is a little more sensitive to your concerns. If you cannot go there, try the breathing to see if it goes away, and listen to the relaxation tape or some other relaxation music to help you sleep. You might want to buy a bottle of lavendar lotion and set it on you bathroom counter to use after washing your hands or whenever you need to. It has some soothing qualities. You just squirt or dab a little on your hands and rub it in, then anytime your feeling this you can raise your hands to your face and breathe that fragrance in.

I hope this helps, or maybe someone else will notice this post and chime in with some other idea.

Hugs,

I have a hiatal hernia. Go to webmd.com and look up hiatal hernia. It is nothing to be alarmed about. My hiatal hernia really hurts if I've eaten too fast, eaten too much and lay down after eating. The pain is in the center of my chest. It is painful and I have a lot of pressure in that area. So avoid the above in order not to have the pain. I would go to a gastroenterologist to rule out any other thing that might be going on. Good luck.
