Lexapro question?
My DR perscibed me 10mg lexapro 2 months ago. For fear of taking it I started on 5mg and stayed that way for 2 months. Now I am getting the anxiety back pretty strong. Would that mean I am on to low of a dose and need to take the whole 10mg. Can I take 5mg at night and 5mg in the morning? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there.
I believe this is a question you may have to ask your doctor. Where anti-depressants are concerned, every one reacts differently to them.
I would go to your doctor and ask him questions
and find out all you can.
On the other hand , if you have the A.A. & D.
program, it would benefit you to do your best to follow that. The program will likely help you more than anything. But if you need something to calm you as you begin to work the program, your doctor will help you. If he doesn't, then find another doctor.
Wishing you calm, good health!!
You'll get help on here, I know.

In my worse days, I took Tricyclic Anti-depressants. Was on them for several years.
But eventually had to get off them as they were
affecting my heart rate adversely. It was awful getting off them. That was before that I even new about this program.
Take care.
You are going to feel better soon.

I have been taking 10mg of Lexapro for about 6 months now and I have been feeling fine on it, no anxiety. It may mean you need to up your dose. 10mg is considered the lowest theraputic dose reccommended, so 5mg may not be enough. I would discuss with your doctor as well. If you decide to decrease your dose then I would add 5mg to your evening pill and sleep it off as it can make you drowsy at first. Lexapro is a great drug when taken correctly.
I took lexapro for almost a year, I started out at 5mg, then went up to 15mg over a period of time, it helped me a lot at first, but made me so drowsy I had to take it before bed plus it messed with my mood real bad throughout the day I had alot of highs and lows, it kept getting worse and I eventually had to change my meds all together. Everyone reacts to medications differently, u should definately talk to your doctor if your having a problem, you know your body better than anyone. And if it turns out it is not the one for you, so be it, lord knows there is plenty of other meds out there.
I WAS LEXAPRO FOR ABOUT 5MG IS FINE

I have been taking 20mgs of lexapro for two years. I am still anxious and depressed. I started the Attacking Anxiety & Depression Program this week. My goal is to get off of lexapro and other meds because I do not feel they are helping me overcome my sad and fearful behavior and thoughts. I have had this condition for at least 25 years. Looking forward to pursuing my dreams and aspirations in a career I am passionate about. Look forward to a more caring, sharing and loving relationship with my spouse, child, other family members and church family.
I have been taking Lexapro for 7 months for severe depression and anxiety. I started out the first month on 10 mg and that was not enough. I became suicidal because it was not working - when I went to stress center they increased my dose to 20 mg. and I have been a different person ever since! I love it! At first I had some weird side effects, mostly vision things and weird feelings in my head but they said that meant it was working. It really took about 2 months for the full benefits to kick in after taking 20 mg daily. Since then I have felt much better - I am going thru the program and so far it seems like the positive thoughts are the best thing you can do. Think positively about everything - put the bad thoughts out of your mind and concentrate on what you are grateful for and thinking only positive thoughts all day. It really helps! Watch what you eat too - eat lots of fruits and veggies - not much processed food, just eat good foods. Exercise and pray and you will feel much better. Hope this helps some. I do like the Lexapro though - I am hoping to get off of it once I learn all these coping skills - but in the meantime it has been a life saver for me! God Bless you!
