My anxity starts with me going with out sleep. recently it started memorial day and from there i went on and off with sleeping until about mid july it got better it easier to NEVER EVER under any circumstances look at the CLOCK! Throughout the day i say to my self "i am a good sleeper" "i will fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow" (its in the work book) last night was ROUGH i could not get to sleep i did eventually but i am beat today. Does anybody else have any unique suggestions! I think a forum for people with trouble with sleep would ROCK!

Try listening to your relaxztion tape before bed, usually concentrating on relaxing can help your mind focus on that and not "when I am going to fall asleep". Also, try drinking something warm like hot tea or milk, or a hot bath or shower right before bed.

Hi Lael. I totally agree with you, there should be a forum strictly for those that have difficulties sleeping, whether it's insomnia or worse, panic attacks. It really deserves to be in a category by itself and I am surprised how many people are sufferng.. :(

Since not everyone sees every post, I'll suggest again that thinkrightnow.com has a CD with 100 affirmations on it called "Tranquil Sleep Now" . I have it. It is very good.
Additionally, I noticed a site that had quick mp3 hypnosis downloads that are excellent. I know some people have objection to hypnosis.
I myself would never go to a hypnotherapist
but the CD's seems safe as you know exactly what they are saying, you know the suggestions are safe, and you know you will not be asked to devulge any information that you would fear you might say.. even if it's totally wrong!

I think most of our fears are that if we don't sleep, we fear we won't be able to function, we will look bad etc.. Some of this may be somewhat true depending how much other stress we have to deal with during the day but, I think that the cure lies in really stopping to care about whether we can sleep or not. It becomes too much pressure and we cannot perform under that. Do you find that is true with you ?

Try Sleepytime Tea Extra with Valerian, it doesn't even take a whole cup! Sweeten it with honey! Hope that helps! The brand is Celestial Seasonings, I think...

ty all for the suggestions. I sleep mostly okay now the night before last night was bad but i think that was becasue i sleep in the basement and i heard my dad walking around all night and it kept me awake. Peace 1 i have to agree with you, you just have to stop caring if you sleep or not. Your body will rest when it needs to. I also found that i function just fine with little to no sleep sure i feel like crap but i still function well. I am sick of trying this thing and that to sleep nothing works other then controling your thoughts as best you can and just letting this problem take its course. It does help to know other people have this problem to because then when your laying there awake it helps for me to say to myself well i am having a bad night, other people have bad nights to and we all survive.

Hey guys...I have to say that if I can't sleep and listen to a hypnosis CD, I'm out in 15 to 20 minutes. You have to get a really good one though, with a hypnotist that knows what they are doing. I ordered mine from <A HREF="http://www.stevegjones.com" TARGET=_blank>www.stevegjones.com</A>. They have them for panic attacks, relaxation, specific phobias. I have a several from him...he's good. You can order CDs or download them online. It really works. Most of them are designed to put you into a deep sleep afterwards instead of wake you up...so very good!

I just noticed Peace1 also recommended trying the hypnosis.

Here is something helpful to know as well, you can not be made to do anything you don't WANT to do. Your subconcious will not allow you to receive anything that is against your beliefs, etc. Ex: They can't suggest that you got out and rob a bank and get you to do it...unless you really want to rob a bank. :) So there's is nothing to worry about when trying hypnosis.

And yes, if you are still anxious about that part of it, the CD is good because you can listen to everything without going into a hypnotic state to see what they are saying.

I saw a hypnotherapist and its nothing like hypnosis. all it is like is listening to a relaxation tape except its a therapist saying them to you while you're resting on their couch. its nothing scary at all. its just relaxing!

Hi I've been to a hpynotherapist as well and she just spoke and had soft music. I would sleep for about 1/2 of our 1hr session. I liked it.
