The general message is new age and feel-good, touchy feely, sort of universalist without the structure. They have a weekly meditation. From the website:
"God is absolute good, every-where present. Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good. Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought. Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God-Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good. Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough. A person must also live the Truth that he or she knows. Unity Church is a congregation of dynamic souls growing in spiritual awareness and expressing our highest God-self. We recognize and honor the divinity in all, and offer an opportunity to everyone to feel the love of God and the courage to express and live it."

The two services I have attended really makes my heart happy and makes me feel like I am a child of God that is loved unconditionally, something I have never felt before despite being raised going to church. Church for me growing up was a boring ritual with little meaning and applicability. I'm just interested if any of you know of this church. It is very different from the Episcopalian church I was raised in. It is very much more "out there" too than I am used to, which I am unsure of, since it's important to me to have a spiritual rock. Anyone know anything about this? I'm seeking a place of peace and connection to God, since I believe that disconnection from God may be at the root of my intense anxiety and depression. Also I would love to hear suggestions for Christian and spiritual healing- books, etc. Thank you in advance for any info.

My partner and I are well familiar with the Unity Church. It is a church tht honors human beings from all walks of life; it is inclusive to the highest meaning of the word. Just know that you can never be disconnected from God, only yourself. God is love and love does not disconnect from its creation. You can, through changing your thoughts, as this course suggests, find your way back to the essence of who you are, which is love! Love yourself enough to move through the thoughts and fears that lead to the anxiety/ depression that we experience. Because we are not our scary thoughts, fears, anxieties, depression, panic etc. As "A New Earth" written by Eckhart Tolle, states, "We are the awareness behind the thoughts." Great book if your looking for something to compliment this course.

I'm so glad to see this here...My religious background is rather complicated...LOL My father was Methodist, my mother Catholic..I was baptized Catholic confirmed Protestant...with me so far? My great-grandmother was a strict Catholic but very open-minded...she was the one that got involved with Unity, Science of Mind even the whole Law Of Attraction principles, in fact, I still have her battered up old copy of The Secret of The Ages which was the book that got Rhonda Byrne into LOA and the now famous The Secret book and DVD--so many of Unity's concepts are right there with the whole LOA principles, especially the books by Catherine PonderOriginally posted by Catherine Anderson:

I'm also very much into Tolle's A New Earth--to live in the NOW....not to constantly dwell on the past, and what could of, should of been done, and not always live in the future which can often cause the stresses in life with worry
I've also studied a bit of Buddhism, Hinduism, Rosicrucians..and while I haven't forsaken my Christian upbringing and am very much still into Unity's concepts, I'm also, shall we say, a Born Again Pagan..LOL

Hello cuttingirl:
I have known about Unity for some time now. It is a wonderful spiritual church. The philosophy the practice is that god is within ourself, we are part of god, their message is always positive and encouragin. I am subscribe to the daily word, this little book is so helpfull because everyday you read a positive message, sometimes when I am in my worst moments I pray and open the book anywhere with my eyes closed and always give me a great answer. I recommend you to read Sacred Secrets (finding your way to joy, peace & prosperity) Hope this help.
