I've noticed lately that I go to do things and have already done them, like posting a book review in the Books Section or writing things on the calendar or on a list. Ambien has an amnesia effect. Wondering if I post the same message twice- one I don't remember and one I do. I have to take my meds early and get this time before bed as MY time alone, and I read and post. Then I come back the next day and think I've just got some great ideas to post only to find I've posted a lot I don't remember. Make sense? Probably not. I'll probably ask again tomorrow when the Ambien wears off. UUHHHH!!

I have gotten up in the middle of night and eaten a bag of potato chips or cookies using Ambien CR and not remember doing it until I got up the next morning and found crumbs all in my bed. This also happened with regular Ambien. I would like to take something different. I tried Lunestra and it left a metallic taste in my mouth. Any one have any ideas???

I actually watched a thing on a news report where a guy was walking and dancing around and was asleep the whole time. Please be very careful taking Ambien. I have heard many stories from people where they were driving and cooking and don't remember doing any of it. My g-mom is on sleeping pills and she cooks and will argue with everyone that she didnt cook anything. I will be praying for you just please be careful! God bless you!

Talk to your doctor about this, but- here is my experience - Do you take Ambien when you are laying in bed or do you take it while you are engaging in some activity (e.g., brushing your teeth, reading email, packing lunch for the next day, etc)? If you are taking it before getting into bed then that is when you can experience those amnesia effects. I've been taking Ambien 10-15mg CR and have the EXACT same story. Take it when you lay down to go to sleep not while you're still up and about and this should stop happening to you. Worked for me.
Cutting girl, You hit the nail on the head. I used to take regular Ambien and it was alot worse with the binge eating and not remembering. Then I started taking it and lying down, but the anxiety of not being able to sleep (fear of not getting to sleep) drove me mad. So now I take it a few hours before and usually that's my time to get on the computer (baby's in bed). But are so right on the money.
I used to take walks around my apt complex and do very odd things like make a cherry coke with a bottle full of cherries and then pass out where ever I was. My hubby always wanted a video camera to prove things to me. He'd love it if I cooked!!! His favorite was the Ambien loving- lol! But the CR version doesn't have as bad effects for me thank goodness.
