No Matter How Bad You Feel; You Will Be Ok, Right???
I am at step one again with dealing with my anxiety. It is worse than I remember it before. Anyway, now with my panic attacks right before I get them I experience a overwhelming feeling of sickness(tiredness, weak, nausea, ect.) and when I feel these symptoms come on I freak and then I have a full blown panic attack. I notice I am having a hard time leaving the house. I still go but I then experience these attacks. After the panic attack I really don't feel good like a weak sick feeling!! I know I am healthy (seen the Dr. blood test, ect.)but I have a hard time telling myself that I am ok!! I am anxious all the time so I don't know if I am just wearing my body out with all these anxiety symptoms? If anyone could give advice on how to deal with this I would appreciate it!!
Hi Rosalie-
I am so sorry you are experiencing these symptoms again. I get the exact same ones when I get a panic attack. My anxiety usually gets triggered by lack of sleep and overwhelming and new situations. Combine the 2 and you get the beginning stages.
Now, I have to tell you, I haven't had a panic attack since I got the program, but I think it's because I haven't been challenged in the way that usually causes them (I can't plan a vacation every weak to test my new skills). However, I have felt anxious quite a bit. I've been working on "letting it pass - ride it out" and the breathing. I also distract myself (I usually get them in the middle of the night when I'm lying awake).
If you have to get up out of bed, before they are out of control, do it. Tell yourself that they will pass. Turn your "what-if" into "so what". They aren't going to kill you or cause longterm health damage - they won't. You are just adding a new anxiety to your list.
I know you will get through this. I've found that you have to try new things. Get your cards out and read them. Keep your journal handy and write in it. Breathe deeply or scrub your bathtub - LOL. Something will work.
In the mean time - while you are well enough to not be going through them - make sure you are writing about how you are feeling and what you are thinking about when they anxiety and panic attack arises. I'll bet you will get to the root of it and be able to solve whatever is bothering you.
It works, you will be OK. I have faith that there is a way to make it a success for you. -J
If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep. ~Dale Carnegie

Rosaslie I feel the same way. I had progressed a lot, but lately when I go to my classes (30 minute drive away from home) I feel anxious a lot. For the most part they have not developed into panic attacks but I do feel like I lost a little bit of my confidence. I have sometimes new symptoms and just throught my classes I think about how bad I feel (probably my mistake). I suppose the best thing to do is credit ourselves for still doing and trying to do the things we normally do despite our panic attacks.
Hi Everyone,
I really think that all the advice you got from nspyredj is perfect. Great reply!!
I will confirm the getting up and doing something rather than laying in bed thinking..my doctor gave me the same advice. It works if you just walk around or watch a little tv, something of course that isn't going to make you more anxious. I even used to lay on the couch in the family room watching repeats of a sit com and would fall asleep in no time. Give it a try.
Best Wishes,
