I have noticed, when I have a new symptoms one that scares me, and I obsess about it for weeks and weeks, that I try to create a new symptom just so the other one doesn't scare me anymore.. then of course I get freaked out about that one.. just wondering if I'm weird ;)

:) Hey Vanity. It seems that when we are trying to scare ourselves, we look for the scariest or awfull thing to obsess about. Why do we do this?? Well I believe Lucinda and others when they say it's a way to avoid dealing with things we need to be dealing with. We dont have to deal with certain things at hand when we fill ourselves up with silly scary thoughts. I used to wear one out and then i would find another one to play with..LOL Hope your doing well. You are so right Tommyboy......I believe this is true because since I have resolved some of my "issues" that were driving me over the edge...I find that my scary symptoms are not nearly as bothersome.... when they do come...I just say.."oh ok anxiety----if you I have to feel this symptom...then so be it"--but I'm gonna get on with my life anyway. And before you know it--I don't even notice the symptom anymore. Plus I have to say that the relaxation tape is working it's wonders on me by teaching my psyche to relax again and to know what it truly feels like to not have a fearful response. Take care

I was just thinking about that today. I was wishing that I would find something else to obssess about so that I could quit thinking about my heart and my breathing. Maybe I am getting tired/bored with that fear, so silly little me has to come up with another one. The good thing is, I am noticing it now, whereas before I would never have even thought about it. I would've just kept on worrying.
