OK, so I had panic attacks years ago, went thorugh the program and all was well. Lately, stress is not my friend and anxiety is coming back, along with its friend chest pain. Does anyone else get this shooting sparatic chest pains out of no where? I seriously thought I was going to die this morning...and logically I am telling myself it is just anxiety...So if anyone else gets these could you let me know? And of course to add to this, I have freaked myself out about going to sleep tonight....help!

Hey needtochill,

I get 'em too. They are scary! I've seen a heart doc and been given the clear so I guess it's anxiety, but still terrifying. Have you seen a cardiologist just to rule out anything? It might ease your fears quite a bit to know that you are perfectly okay and it's just anxiety. Chest pain is a common symptom of panic and anxiety disorders.
It helps me to distract myself with something like a crossword puzzle. It gets my mind off the scary thoughts.

Hang in there!

Hi Chelsea
Thanks very much for responding...I am so glad to hear I am not alone. I needed to hear that. So thank you! I have an appointment for a full physical and blood work booked for next week, hopefully they will find nothing and give me the all clear. As I write this, logically I know it is just all anxiety as I have just quit my job of over 21 years, 4 weeks ago...so I guess that this why this is manifesting itself this way. uuugggghhh!
Thanks again for responding

I have also had check pain with my anxiety. Mostly I have heart palpitations and they scare me more than all the other symptoms. I have found that if I can stop, do some deep breathing and mentally relax I can stop the palpitations and the pain. Best Wishes,

I also have the chest pains periodically, particularly when the stress and anxiety are high (such as now). Sometimes if I have really really overdone working out then the next day or that night I have them. I've had TWO full cardiac workups and there is nothing wrong with my heart. Just anxiety. You are probably ok.
