One of the girls fell off her chair in the office and I immediately started to get heart palpitations and it was beating SO fast. OMG I was so scared but I try to keep my composure, and calmed down with the breathing technique.

Called my boss to come and help and I called 911.
I tried not to concentrate on myself and went over to help. She has a history of migraines
and she felt weak and faint.
I really didn't need this extra stress but I guess it was a good TEST to see how I can handle
an emergency?

I agree, you should be very proud of yourself. I've just started the program, but I'm so excited to get to the next levels. I've suffered from depression for nearly 10 years. In the past few years, I've had two occasions when I NEEDED to react to someone's aid! My neice was visiting, she was in her early teens. We were watching a movie with a room full of kids, when she jumped up in front of me and started pointing at her throat. I grabbed her without thinking and gave her the hymlic. I had to do it three times before it worked. The same thing happened a few years later, but this time with my nephew. He was flipping in a chair and had a hard candy in his mouth. There was a roomful of kids and I didn't notice. He came in front of me doing the same thing...pointing at his throat. When I grabbed him, he was taller than me and I started getting nervous I wasn't goning to be able to help him. But after five trys, the candy flew out of his mouth and he started throwing up. Both times, I don't know where the courage came from. I just saw kids I love in trouble and reacted to help them. I've never been the big brave person in a situation, but for someone only 5 ft. 4, I was able to help. Keep working on the program. I've just started and I'm so anxious to see what it can do for me. God Bless you!

Thank You.

I didn't feel very good after that & I still have some residual anxiety symptoms that I am trying to deal with. Floaty feelings, tense neck
and head.

You should be really proud of yourself!!! You
saved their lives!

I am only on Session 4 but I can see that it is
helping me cope with my symptoms a lot better.
We are still new to it but I have hope that we
will get better!!

DebDeb,

People with anxiety just have really strong fight or flight, and we use it when we don't need to a lot of times and that's the only reason it's a problem. Yours kicked in when you needed it. The palpitations, the surreal feelings, etc. are just the result of the powerful hormone adrenaline pumping through your body to help you in the emergency. It's meant to help you in an emergency, so it's not going to kill you because that would defeat it's purpose. You know, we all worry about our hearts stopping because they beat rapidly because of adrenaline, and if our hearts were to stop, a doctor would actually give it a shot of adrenaline to get it started:). It's what we need to survive:).
Just implement whatever techniques you can to calm down, and your body will eventually calm down. You can definitely handle an emergency:). Everyone on here can handle an emergency because we have "over reactive" fight or flight. Anxious people are very good in emergencies because they are always prepared:). You really will calm down, and you're just experiencing adrenal side effects. When you get home, exercise and drink lots of water and that will flush out the adrenaline.
Take Care,

Thanks luvpiggy I tried my best to remain calm
especially when I wasn't feeling that way to begin with. Now I am feeling a little sleepy-I
guess I am coming down from my 'high'

I will exercise a little tonight but I may not
go to the gym, perhaps walk the dog and do a
few stretches and my stepper.
