I went to a doctor on Thursday, and she diagnosed me with Adrenal Fatigue stemming from Panic/Anxiety Attacks. She put me on:

1) 800mg Magnesium Glycerate (400mg, 2x daily)
2) Double the dose of Fish Oil (2pills, 2x daily)
3) New Chapter Basil (2 pills morning)
4) New Chapter Serofin ([1800 mg total]double the dose, St Johns Wort type pill)
5) .5mg Melatonin with Prescription Klonopin .5mg before bed)

I was reluctant to take the Klonopin. But I started last night, and at first had trouble sleeping from the fear and anxiety. I guess I fell asleep around 30-45 minutes later. When I woke up 7-8 hours later, I felt severely tired and dizzy. So, I went back to bed and slept another 3 hours. When I woke up, I was feeling tired and dizzy still. I can't shake it off. I feel really dizzy.... is this normal and does it get better? Why am I still having symptoms 15 hours later?

Please help

THAT IS A BIG YES!!!! Especially your first time...Then it's prolly aprt of the adrenal fatigue....I have---have/had the same type of issues....I take ativan, which isn't nearly as stronh as klono....I have taken all at some time or other....IN SPOTS---not regularly----I remember telling my doc @ first....these things make me sooo tired, and then about 3 weeks later (xanax) I told him, I don't feel tired @ all!!!! Just takes some time to kick in...I wonder about that adrenal fatigue...I thought I was depressed...Go figure!!!! Stick it out...You've come this far, don't add more worry and fear to what's alrready going on!!!! Just do as the doc says!!!!!!Best of luck 2 ya!!!

I didnt like the klonopin. It made me have insomnia. And more anxious and spacey. Ativan has worked for me as far as calming me down. Hang in there. Chrit

Klonopin didn't work for me either. Like chrit it just made the anxiousness worsen. Everyone is different, but xanax has helped me in the past, and my doctor recently put me back on it for two weeks. Every doctor is different as well. My new doctor's thinking for the two weeks was to keep my mind straight, get two weeks of good night sleep, where I can use the tools effectively and train my mind as I am using the program and then work myself off again. She seems very familiar with the program which is a major plus for me. My doctor in my old home town didn't and it made it that much harder for me to try to make her understand some items.

Contrary to what others have reported, I have found Klonopin very helpful when I am anxious. I actually wait to take it until I am VERY anxious; otherwise I'd be popping them all day.

The Sedation will definitely wear off in time. I've been on it for 4 years. I take 1mg twice/day and Xanax (same family) throughout the day. I remember the sedation in the beginning, but it wears off quickly.

I question how your MD came up with adrenal fatigue. Most people with adrenal fatigue don't require sedatives as they are just worn out all of the time. If your having anxiety, then you must be producing Adrenaline. Just my thoughts.

Your adrenals can definitely become taxed--overworked--causing a myrid of symptoms on top of anxiety. Some people need their adrenals stimulated and others need support.

Medications for depression and Anxiety can have different effects for each person, I even recently read that certain drugs work better for women ans others better for men!? I would give the medication a little bit of time to see how it affects you, but also, let your doctor know if symptons become too much, hang in there!

I love Klonopin and yes it takes a while to get used to it. I take Xanax but the downtime off it makes me even more anxious so I don't think it works for me. I have to fly on December 23rd for the first time in 14 years so I will pop anything I have to.

I also was just prescribed Klonopin which I have found to be helpful since I had been on Ativan and after 4-5 hours, I was having a terrible time with inner shakiness. The Klonopin seems to have helped with that, but does make me very tired at night. I usually wait and do the relaxation tapes right before bed and I can't even make it through them. I trust that this will change once my body gets used to it. I would give it more time and maybe ask your doctor if you can take .25 mg instead of .5 mg.
