Hi,
I posted something recently about having a UTI and needed some help, and thanks to all that commented and helped me out! ;)

However, I did finish taking the meds for the UTI and actually started to feel better, but it really didn't feel like it totally cleared up in my opinion. I mean, I felt much better- not much of an urgency,no pressure, but I still just felt like when I did pee that it didn't totally all come out, but I just ignored it. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks that I have completed the med! YAY!
Anyway, it is almost time for my cycle to start-which will be in about a week or so, and each month I deal with PMS- which is sometimes anxiety, or I am emotional, have PMS headache, or sinus trouble, or something! It's like my body does something weird each month before my cycle. I have kinda' gotten used to that now.
Well, this morning I woke up and noticed that I had that "feeling" again. The feeling I am talking about is the pressure in my back or around in my bladder area or kidneys (if that makes any sense). It's like I got up and went to pee and felt like I didn't let it all out, but nothing else would come out, and the pressure was there (in my back). It is like the feeling I have had when I have had a UTI and I once had a kidney infection and my back had pressure also.
Well, I noticed a few times before I went to the doctor and just KNEW I had a UTI or kidney infection and they checked me out and I had nothing! My doc suggested that I focus on getting the anxiety down. She said that it was anxiety and I noticed that once I started to take the med I have on hand for anxiety or panic attacks that I didn't notice the symptoms anymore. It was weird, but anyway, I am starting to obsess about this UTI stuff...it is like I looked up UTI symptoms and ended up seeing something about bladder cancer, and what did I read that for? It scared me so bad! I think I am worrying a little because I am thinking what if I have another UTI or the last one didn't clear up? Or what if I have a kidney infection? It is like I am wondering what if I have either of those and if so, why did the med not clear it up all the way? - although it was a very low dosage of an antibiotic? Then I wonder, what if something else is wrong? :?

BTW-I don't drink sodas or caffeine, and have been drinking lots of water the past few weeks, and also cranberry juice.

I guess I just need someone to talk to, or someone that can relate to this.
Thanks in advance for your comments!

I don't know exactly how to help, but just wanted to let you know that right near my cycle, maybe 2-3 days up to it starting, I have a lot of pressure on the bladder and urge to go as well.

One thing that comes to mind is working out or doing kegels. Have you tried that?

Oh - I have noticed, with my recovery that anxiety does go hand in hand with those urges. I used to have a lot of IBS symptoms but they lessened considerably after going through the program.

Another thing that I have found lessened my PMS symptoms is using Wild Yam cream, which is a natural estrogen.

Hi Shifrah,
Now that I think of it, I do notice bladder urges near my cycle. I think the anxiety is up also, and I kinda' wonder if I am obsessing too much over a kidney infection or UTI that I am possibly doing this to myself? In a way, I don't feel like this is in my head but I know I have been to the doc before with these symptoms and it has been near my cycle and it passes. I am just going to see how it goes. If I need to go back to the doctor I will, but I get so anxious when I go. The only way I will find out is to go and have it checked huh?
Oh well, thanks so much for your help and I will have to look in the cream.
How does it work? No side effects?

I usually do a "wait and see" method myself. I wait until after my cycle and most of my symptoms are gone.

Most health food stores carry a number of natural estrogen creams, you apply it daily to your wrists, inside of elbow, throat, etc. 2 weeks before your cycle starts. There are no side effects I know of.

Here is the one I use: http://naturalhealthyalternati...W&Category_Code=WHC9

Book of Psalms.....This is just a stab in the dark, but on top of your kidneys are the Adrenal glands......If the back pain persists especially AFTER you notice IT AFTER you are very stressed you can possibly talk to your doctor about Adrenal fatique. He may Psssshaw..at the terminology...but there is a blood test for Cortisol levels.......I dont know if he would consider ordering this for you...it may be expensive. And I am not familiar with what he would put down as a possible prognosis. Is this back pain bilateral meaning on both sides or one side only.? I dont know how much fluids you consume and what....this is difficult at my end.....You could be just having a muscle spasm from tension...do you exercise? I have back pain often.....but mine is primarily from being somewhat overweight and past work related injuries. creamcheese

Hey BOP, :) :) :)
I have noticed that when I am "anxious" that I have to go a lot..lot..lot.. and dribble, dribble, dribble..

I used to be really bad when my anxiety level was high!!! I would feel the urge just before bed, then I would go, then I would head for bed, and go again..Then, once in bed, I would have to get up because I felt like I had to go again..

I must say that I would have to get up at least 3 times, and sometimes more, before I could go to sleep, because I felt that pressure thing and the need to go..go...go..

It seemed like all I did in those days was go, go, and go some more!!!

In my case, all of this was caused by my "heightened" anxiety..

I pray that between all of us, you "figure" this out very soon ;)

I love you dearly and I miss you bunches...

Hello B of P......I have been to the Dr. for pain, pressure, burning, etc.- everything you described - sure that I had a UTI, kidney or bladder infection, something! and it was all caused by anxiety! Nothing showed up at all and I felt like a total idiot. When I read your post I was thinking....I think I have seen an OTC UTI test in the drug store. I don't know how reliable these tests are but if it didn't show anything, at least it might give you some peace of mind........just a thought. Best of luck to you

Hi,
I am posting in the wee hours of the morning because I fell asleep shortly before 11pm and have been asleep for about 3 hours and I decided to check this site before going back to sleep. :D

Shifrah- Thanks, I will check that out! ;)

Cream Cheese- The back pain comes and goes. It is not always there, or always persist. It feels like pressure on both sides, near the kidneys or on the kidney area-feels just like your kidneys hurt.
The strange thing is that I also notice pressure like in my bladder or (excuse this...vaginal area). It feels like when I was pregnant and the baby was pressing on my bladder, but I am not pregnant! :p
It is weird...I don't understand this at all. It is very frustrating because I was not really feeling all that great today because of the back pain and pressure. I didn't feel like walking much at all. The weather was absolutely beautiful here, but we still went out and enjoyed it, but I was not feeling well.
I will talk to the doctor about this if it doesn't clear after my cycle. I have gone to the doc before about this and found nothing wrong, but anxiety! I felt like an idiot after going. I hadn't had these problems in a few years though.
I have heard of adrenal fatigue but don't much about that. I thought you would feel fatigue or something. Lol! So it has something to do with back pain??
Thanks again, CC! ;)

Ms.TBones- Hi there! Long time since we last spoke. You are right, I do go a lot when I am anxious. I do know that can happen, but I am just noticing today that I am really not going very often, as I was a few weeks ago, but when I do go my bladder is not emptying out. I can feel that more needs to come out and it is not towards the very end. This is really making me nervous. As you stated, heightened anxiety can do this also. I went to the doctor at least 2-3 times in the past for this and it was absolutely nothing but anxiety because everything checked out fine. They told me if it did not get better, that they would do an MRI on my bladder, but I never had to have it because it would always clear up. I guess this time I am noticing that I had a UTI and took medicine for it and then it is like I am still dealing with some symptoms.
Well, thanks Ms.T, and good seeing you. :)

Can'tdance&relax- So you have had these symptoms? Wow! I mean this feels just like something is wrong but I have been before and it was nothing but it is not fun, and it is a little painful. I am glad you mentioned the OTC test for UTIs because they do have those now. They are for UTI or yeast infections, and I will get one in the morning and do the test. Thanks again for that info because I forgot all about that. At least if I take that and find something out it will help to ease my mind.
I just don't want to get so nervous about this. I usually get so worked up and find that it is nothing or something simple that is treated and I get better...it is like I feel like an idiot afterwards! I know how you felt when you said you felt like a total idiot! I did too!
Thanks again! :)

I AM SO GLAD YOU ALL GAVE YOUR INFO BECAUSE IT IS VERY HELPFUL TO ME. THANK YOU LADIES! :)

*UPDATE ON LAST POST*:

Okay, I went to get an OTC UTI test this morning at the pharmacy. It did show that I possibly had a UTI. My family and I were getting dressed for church, but the back pain was getting worse. I told my husband that I needed to go to the doctor, which we have a place called Primecare (similar to Urgent Care) less than 6 minutes away from our home. I went there when they opened at noon.
I could feel myself getting anxious as I waited for them to call my name. I was a little anxious but not as bad as I have been at some visits. :p
I did the urine culture and it showed hardly nothing again, but they asked me to drink water and try to go more, because I couldn't really go a lot, anyhow, I went again, but...same thing- I couldn't go a lot at all. She said that was enough to spin it again. The doctor came in and she said that based on my symptoms I may have a kidney infection. :(
She pressed on my back and it hurt! :o She said that it could be a kidney infection but they are sending it off to the lab (which is normally standard anyway).
She said that the last time I was in a few weeks ago, the doctor did not send it off to the lab, therefore, the antibiotic he prescribed may have been resistant to the infection-which would not have done much help with clearing it up. I didn't know that the lab results let them know which antibiotics will work for that particular infection. She said had he sent it off, that would have let him know if the Macrobid was right for me, or if my body was resistant to that particular antibiotic. She said that is probably why I didn't ever really feel as though the infection cleared up completely! :(
She prescribed Bactrum today - 2x's/day for 14 days. :( Has anyone ever taken this?
She wanted to give me a shot of something else before I left there but she said with my drug sensitivities she didn't want to take a chance. I am going to start that medicine shortly. Of course, I am a little nervous trying another medicine. :o
I didn't have a fever, which was good, and she also said that it was great that I didn't have nausea, or vomiting, so maybe I did catch this in time.

I just wanted to update you call.

P.S. Can'tdance&can'trelax,the test does work! Thx! ;)

Honestly, I have heard that same story when my brother went to the doctor for a sore throat he had for 2 weeks!!! The doctor NEVER took a thoat culture and WHA-LA he STill had the sore throat!!! Being I am a nurse...I think doctors find it hard to do tests on people that have the same problems over and over....But with urine..and especially back pain...a doctor MUST TAKE A Urine culture!!!OMG!!! This should be standard procedure when a complaint such as yours is apparent......I play a little game when I DO go to the doctor(its just so much fun for me) I go in as a regular person first, a novice to medications, procedures and the whole sha-bang. UNTIL...he starts to diagnose me....THEN I SAY...Im a nurse!!! ONCE this MD said my cholesterol is high....right away he was throwing the pills at me......I said to him directly....NO NO NO...You didnt even discuss a diet and exercise with me.(thats when he found out I was a nurse) He probably thought to himself "well, if you are a nurse your cholesterol shouldnt be high if you know what to do." But he never took the time out to ask about my health habits..what do you eat, are you under stress...etc etc...the humanness was gone.......I cant stress that essential part of medical professionals. DONT BE AFRAID to ask them questions.(I personally like to play"Stump the smart physician) It helps me learn too. Most doctors WONT teach you about your body and what it does because now people have WEB MD, and Healthnet.com. I am hoping this isnt kidney related. Although I have never seen urine being fairly normal when the kidneys are not. Too bad you didnt ask for that cortisol blood test. creamcheese
