relaxation cd

good morning everyone! quick question...I ran into some trouble at work last night sooo of-course I'm trying to psycho-analyze it today--I feel that I've been doing alright and alot has been "looking up" but I still have a HARD time slowing my breathing when faced w/ anxiety. It almost seems that the more I think about it the more anxious I get. One thing in the program that I haven't been faithful to is the relaxation cd--1-3x a day seems like sooo much time to spend on laying back on the couch and "relaxing" and once a day is even sometimes difficult. The best time for me to do it is when my 2year old is napping in the afternoon but that is also the best time to get a number of other things accomplished. & if I wait till later in the day my 6&8 year olds are getting home from school...so my question is: Do any of you think that this is why my mind has SUCH a hard time controlling my breathing? Do all of you find the time to listen to relax. cd EVERY day? & on a scale of 1-10 how imp. is this step in the program--where should I prioritize(sp?) this? Anything would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank-you!

well, I have been using the relaxation cd at bedtime. It seems thats when I can. If I happen across some other time or if I make myself stop and use it because I have had a particularly stressful day then I will, but mmostly at night. Keep trying. Yes I feel that it is very important so dont give up on it.

Good Morning liz27,

Yes the relaxation cd is so important especially in teaching you how to use the deep breathing and to be able to reach the point that you CAN slow down your breathing and get an anxious moment under control on your own. Every aspect of this program works together so please take the time to just do it..if you can't do it 3 times a day for a while then do it as often as you can each day and night. It's sometimes just the best thing you can do for yourself. I feel rejuvinated and have more ambition after using it.

thank-you both for the kind words and "kick in the butt" so to speak! For whatever reason I suppose I knew the answer and I also know that I want sooo badly to do this for myself it just seems that my "stubborn" personality is getting in the way more often than not! I have gotten sooo many "projects" accomplished(that I've been pushing off for literally years) since I started this program 5 weeks ago and at first I thought it was because I changed my eating habits, started drinking more water and less coffee, cut back a bit w/ smoking BUT I'm starting to find myself JUST "keeping busy" almost to avoid the program! I can't figure out why! I KNOW I need to DO it, take it seriously and I will benefit but here again I don't know if I'm just stubborn or what but.....thanks again for that kick in the rear!!!
