Hi, I just wanted to share my success with
the hypnosis CD I'm using for my panic attacks and insomnia at night. I would have added this note to my original post but now I can't find it ?! Anyways, I had this problem for about a year and tried everything under the sun. From
the 1st day I used this CD I have had no panic attacks and everyday am falling asleep faster and sleeping more deeply and calmer. I had one night where it was difficult.. I was mad at myself for something but this didn't even propel me into panic attacks and I eventually fell asleep. I am very grateful for this CD, I believe it is helping me to learn to develop the habit again of relaxing and going from the thinking phase to the fantasy phase.
I was speaking to an experienced hypnotherapist yesterday and she said that the more or longer i use this CD the more it will cultivate a habit of good sleeping. She also gave me a tip.
She said that the key to hypnosis is 50% in the eyelids. Apparently our eyelids have the least muscles. She told me that when my eyelids feel heavy and relaxed that I should 'try' to open them. What will happen is that I can't. She said if I did this, it will propel me into even deeper relaxation. I tried it last night and
fell asleep much faster and didn't wake up after the CD was finished. I am assuming this tip did the trick.

So, I do recommend getting this CD for those of you who are struggling with panic attacks at night and insomnia. The CD is called "Deep Sleep every Night" by Glenn Harrold. You can get it at Amazon and will see others giving it a wonderful review.

Regards, Peace

The sleep hypnosis cds are amazing and work really well for me also. I was told by a sleep disorder doctor that when I felt I couldn't sleep to actually try to stay awake and keep my eyelids open and I couldn't do it. They just were too heavy and I would fall asleep while I was trying to stay awake! Sounds strange but it worked.

Just a quick tip for all the iTunes people out there. I downloaded this from the iTunes Store for about $10, about $4 less than on audible.com. The track is great, but there is a tag line in the very beginning and very end from audible that may or may not disrupt your relaxation/sleep pattern, so there is a way around this...

1. In iTunes, go to the Audiobooks link and find the Deep Sleep Every Night file.
2. Right click on the file and go to Get Info.
3. Under the Options tab you will see options for adjusting Start Time and Stop Time. Check both boxes and make the Start Time 0:15 and the Stop Time 43:25 or so....

Now when you sync this to your iPod, you will not have to worry about the audible.com advertisement and can just concentrate on RELAXING! :p

Good luck to all of us that have a hard time sleeping occasionally! WE WILL MAKE IT!

Does anyone know if this CD has subliminal messages? Also, what does it "sound" like? I have relaxation/sleep CD that is a bunch of buzzing vibrations... something to do with brainwaves(?)- I don't know, but I HATE it!

Hey Eric- thanks for the iTunes link... Very helpful!

You can listen to a sample of the CDs on Glenn Harrold's web site.

Hi Fischee. As far as I know this particular one from Glenn Harrold does not have sublimials
on it. You hear everything he's saying and the music is very very good.
I too bought a sleeping CD last year called Sleeptracks. It had horrible humming and buzzing sounds - brainwaves. It scared me, because it was scary & dark sounding. I personally don't know how this could be effective for someone who has anxiety at night ?!

Anyways I find Glenn Harrold's voice and the music much more soothing and the more I listen to it the more I sort of see him as a friend helping me to sleep. As Mary says you can listen to a sample of the CD here:

p.s. I also have Glenn's hyp. Cd on Fears and Phobias and play that to myself during the day.
He uses a bit of NLP technique on the 2nd track.
I think it's working too as the words he uses seems to be embedding themseslves a bit into my brain. I like his phrase of "I live my life with courage and confidence".

I had a tip from someone on panic attacks and she said that if I ever start to worry about sleeping during the day I'm supposed to say "oops I forgot, I'm over that now.". I find that the "oop, I forgot" part is very novel. It really seems to be a good way of accepting the negative thoughts and not punishing yourself for having them. I find it really works.

Thanks, Peace1!
I appreciate the link- it's just so much easier. Subliminals really freak me out. Even my acupressurist said to NEVER give anyone full reign over a blank mind or to meditate on "nothingness"- always keep an image in mind (and he's COMPLETELY alternative!).

I totally agree about the brainwave thing- just too weird for me.

I also really like your suggestion on, "opps, I forgot." Very clever. it kind of reminds me of what my mentor at work once said, "Act confident and no one will ever know the difference."

Peace out ;*),

Hi Fischee. I totally agree too with your accupuncurist. I don't think it's safe to have a blank mind..

I'm glad you like the "oops, I forgot...." because I had never heard of using this phrase before either! This lady does seminars on panic attacks and I just thought it was very clever too. I find when I say that it helps me to stop obsessing about my particular worry. You can even add a positive affirmation after that phrase. Like "Oops, I forgot, I am over that now. I AM a great sleeper and have no trouble falling asleep. " and then maybe add a scripture verse like "Perfect Love casts out all fear"...

Your mentor's comments are true. I remember Joyce Meyer saying that same exact thing. She says that sometimes she feels fear.. she trembles, her heart races but she just does it despite how she feels. I suppose the more you keep doing it, it becomes a habit and those feelings don't seem to carry so much weight..
But definitely, I think the key is to be OK with feeling uncomfortable. This is where I
have trouble and in the past fought with having them. I guess people who don't have panic attacks don't fight their uncomfortable feelings, they don't fear them. I think that's where we get trapped..
