Hey everyone!I was just wandering if anyone was taking or has took xanax xr?My anxiety is extremely high so my doctor has me taking xanax xr 1mg 3 times a day.The funny thing is I still have anxiety sometimes at a high level while on this dose. Most people are like "I would be out of it".Kinda scares me.My thoughts are oh no what's wrong with me?Why do I still have such high anxiety on this kind of dose?Is this a really high dose?I also worry about weaning off of it because I had to move up to taking 3 a day because after the 12 hours when it would ware off I'd have the most intense panick ever!I could hardly walk I'd be racing so bad.I tell people it's like i just drank 50 cups of coffee and I never have coffee!I might also mention that I've been on this medicine for almost 2 years. Thanks guys for helping me if you can.

Wow! That is definilty a high dose of xanax. I did try xanax in the past and believe it or not it made my anxiety ten times worse. It actually made me more jittery, more anxious, and I couldn't sleep. My doctor told me those were all side effects from it. I was also told you don't want to go on it for a long period of time because it is very addicting. But I will tell you if you have been on it for a long period of time you are probably having anxiety still because your body has built an immunity to the xanax and it is not working for you anymore. You need to try to get on something that is more long term and not so addicting. You should try buspar or welbutrin. They are both really good for anxiety and they are not addicting. They will also work a lot better and a lot longer then xanax. They are also both drugs you can use for a longer period of time. Maybe you should try coming off of the xanax and use something more long term. Just a suggestion. I am not on any medication right now and don't plan to be. I have placed all of my anxiety in God's hands and it has been the best plan yet.

Remeber you can do this it is all in your head and how you think. If you anticipate the anxiety you are going to have it. If you ignore it and go on about the day and live in the moment you will be less anxious.

Good Luck! If you need anything just write.
God Bless you today and everyday ahead!

My doc just switched me from xanax to valium, and I can tell a HUGE difference. The xanax really was contributing to some of my anxiety and symptoms. It wasn't easy to switch, but it was worth it!

Hello! Thanks for responding. My doctor wanted to switch me right over to Klonopin but I was to scared to try it.He said that it was safe just to switch straight from the xanax to the klonopin but I heard different things about that from the pharmacist. Not sure who to believe at this point. The xanax XL goes into the system so slow that it just isn't enough even on this dose.Don't get me wrong I need to feel some of the anxiety so I can work on over coming it but it has made me feel like I'm just exsiting and that feels terrible.I've tried some of the longer term medicines but they made my anxiety go threw the roof!I tried Paxil,Zoloft,Lexapro, and Pozac.I just couldn't handle the effects.I'm freaking out because now they have me on all this xanax and I'm afraid that I'll never be able to come off of it.That's adding to my anxiety immensly.

hi,I am also on 1mg of xanax but it says to take as needed, I take half in the mornings so i wont feel so out of if at work. But i think i could get addicted,I am addicted to the calm feeling after i take it,I feel like i could handle anything until it wears off and i never was one to take any kind of medicine not even Tylenol.I have a goiter and everything I eat feels like it is stuck in my throat so before i eat i have to take one to avoid having a panic attack after i eat.

Hey guys! Was it bad withdrawals when you guys weaned off?I heard that it can be worse than panick attacks?Could that be if you just suddenly stop without weaning? The only reason i even started taking it was because 2 years ago abunch of changes took place in my life and I couldn't cope and became very emotionally sick.I went to the doctor and she basically said take the medicine or I'd end up in the hospital.I hate taking medicine just because of all the worry that comes with it for me.It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn,t still feeling severe anxiety so what the heck? How much medicine am i going to need to take the edge off?I just can't believe that I let myself get so bad.I've acomplished Quit a bit in my life.I overcame anorexia and alcoholism on my own but I having a heck of a time overcoming this anxiety.
