Hello everyone. I hope everyone has been well, I read your posts and pray for everyone daily. I have been holding my own for awhile, the daily panic have stopped, I fear they will start up because of health problems I have been having, I asked my Dr. and nurse and they do not have an answer, my friends here always seemed to have the answers perhaps because they have been through it and lived it.

I have been having nightmares almost every night and sometimes I actually BITE myself during them, why I dont know? on the hand I bite myself. Usually its not too bad but this time I developed a white pimple like pus pocket, I put it under hot water then doused it with perxiode and neo-sporin with a bandaid, I developed a "staph" infection last year because of this and I am scared to death it will happen again, through this time I treated it right away and did not wait, I had to have it lanced and antiobotics and the Dr. last year told me it could go into blood posioning, I am hoping treating it will prevent that infection again.

Does anyone ever do this? Bite themselves while sleeping? I never heard of it before? I dont do it while I am awake of course, I might have to wear gloves or socks on my hands at night, I just hope it does not get infected like before, if anyone ever had this or did this please let me know and what you did, its happening during deep sleep and bad dreams I think :( scary.

Thank you very much for listening, I hope all are having a good summer, I seem to relapse during the summer so I am trying not too, I have gained weight and my knees are very bad, I can hardly walk, but I am working on that, I think I used food to alleviate anxiety! If anyone can shed some light I would appreciate. Thanks, Kucek {Debbie}

Hello Kucek,
I'm sorry to hear this happens to you. I have not heard of something like this before (I don't want to sound judgmental or something like that, I just want to show support for what you're going through .

Good luck and hope this stops for you.

Peace and happy dreams! (that's something I tell my kids before going to bed :) )
Ivonne

Hey Kucek,

I dont bite myself,but I do grind my teeth and sometime bite the inside of my mouth. The Dr told me to wear a night gaurd on my teeth when I sleep, You can get one at your local drug store, it took me a couple of nights to get used to it but you wont be able to bite yourself with it on.

Just a thought, good luck I hope this might help you.

Hi, I've never bitten myself, but like DebbieW I know of people who grind their teeth. Do you chew on your hand as you sleep, almost like a child would chew on their favorite blanket? Something to calm yourself, yet you're actually hurting yourself? Just an idea. The gloves might work, and you could use it with lotion to make your hands nice and soft while you're at it. :) Gotta say, that the name of your post made me take a double take. I read it as "Bite Yourself" instead of Biting Yourself. :D I guess we have to find humor where we can get it, huh? Are you on any medication at all? I was having trouble opening my eyes in the morning last year and the doctor said it was from being soooo stressed out and clamping my eyes shut. So he put me on Klonopin. It seems to have worked. But now I really want to learn ways to deal with my anxiety and not have to rely on medication. But if you need it for a while, there's no shame in that, that's for sure! Hope you are having a better day today.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I would of wrote sooner this evening but this is the first time I had access to the computer. It IS a very weird thing, but nothing about me is normal :roll: it does not happen everynight and so far I have not broken the skin, last night I did and it brings back really scary bad memories of the staph infection I had last year near the same spot, I am treating it and trying not to think about infection and staph!

I DO take Klonopin before I go to bed at night and sometimes a quarter or half during the day, but that is very rare, I take one 0.5 before bed, it helps with sleep, I think I am maybe "comforting" myself during these nightmares, I sleep very badly I am up about 5 times a night going to the bathroom, very broken up sleep and make up for it during the early and mid-morning hours, Which I would rather not do, I dont understand why the nightmares are coming from? I have had them all my life but now they seem worse and nothing awful terrible has happened except for some health issues and family situations.

Tonight I am going to wear big fluffy socks on my hands! :eek: I dont know if I could buy gloves in Florida?? I hope it helps, it sounds strange but anything is better than the biting, I never do it while I am awake. Thanks SO very much to those who replied for taking the time. Bless you, Debbie {Kucek}
