I am now taking welbutrin SR and lamictal. I recently got off of prozac cause I didn't like the sexual side effects, but now I'm feeling sad and really depressed since getting off of prozac. Is there an effective antidepressant that I could ask my psychiatrist about that doesn't have sexual side effects? which ones are there?

Hi Michelle,
Prozac is a major libido killer. I hesitate to give advice, but I do have an opinion. Welbutrin SR (slow release) is a fine Med. and should have minimal influence w/ sexual side effects. Give it at least a month to see how it works. If you’re unsatisfied, ask your Dr. about Cymbalta. It is a newer antidepressant that helps w/cronic pain. You know your needs best.
Small world, Michelle, I'm from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
I wish the best to you, Steve

I've been on Paxil and recently Lexapro. Paxil had a big negative affect on my libido but Lexapro did not affect it at all.

You need to give everything a chance to work. For me it took the whole 8 weeks for everything to stabilize. It was torture but your meds will work and the side effects will dimish over time.

Hang in there.
