I have just started session 2. At first i was feeling discouraged. And to some extent i still am, i find it hard to get up and press play but when i do i come out of it feeling a little refief at at time. is it normal to have to fight yourself to get better? is my body so accustumed to feeling these negative thoughts and feelings that change is foriegn. i dont want to give up but i feel like im fighting myself. does this make me a person who doesnt want to try? Believe me i want to succeed in this but is all of this normal?

Hey aubrie its hard to motivate yourself when you are feeling down and negative. Just break it down into babysteps. If all you can muster is 15 minutes, then just try.

They say motivation comes from doing. Small steps everyday and before you know it your on your way.

this may sound silly but put a check or a smiley face on the calender for everyday you do a little something, it will hopefully motivate you to keep on trying.

Take care and God Bless.

Yes, at first it is scarey, and at first, its hard to get motivated,, but you "said it yourself" Once you press play, afteward you feel some relief. Well the further you go, the more relief you will feel.
Sometimes we have to fake it to make it, through the day, but even though you do that, you start finding, you can actually feel better, and before you know it, your no longer faking it.
I wish you continued success on the program. But remember the program won't play itself you have to do the work :) Nelly

Aubrie,
Sometimes I do feel the same way that you do. I've just started session 4 and I *can* tell you that the number of times I have to talk myself into doing something with the program is decreasing. It *does* take a lot of concentration and determination and positive self talk. I find that more and more I look forward to working on the sessions. I really can tell I've made progress. I really got a lot out of sessions 2 and 3; they were really helpful. So I'd encourage you to hang in there and continue to try. You are right on target, you will feel better each time you do something. The flash cards especially have been helpful for me. Being able to read through them when I feel I need encouragement or reinforcement has made a big difference. You can do this, repetition and reinforcement is a big part of it, I think. This is a bad habit that has been developed over a long period of time and I think we have to be as patient as we can with ourselves in turning this around. You can do it!

Aubrie,
Please hang in there! As Lucinda said in the first Session, we tend to be negative thinkers...so I believe that what you are feeling is completely normal. Hang in there...we are there for you
