The past week or so I've been having something weird going on in my chest...its like a slight pressure or something..and i also feel it in that little bone just below the neck...like it's moving upward. At first I wondered if it was a palpitation but i thought i'd had them before...thing is me and my boyfriend were joking around the other day and he was trying to spray me with my water bottle...we wrestled to the floor and i ended up dragging him across the floor with myself and it didn't happen then. I also got a fright from a MAJOR bump after we were pulling away from the side of the road day before yesterday and it didnt happen. But sometimes when i'm laying down it happens..or after i come up the stairs...or even at times when we've been intimate...not yesterday tho....it also happened when the two of us were sitting in a love seat that reclines...we both went to get up at the same time and tipped it forward, it was a fright but we were laughing and pushed it back by sitting back on it and then i got it then.....it's not painful at all..just like maybe a jump or sumthin tho it doesnt specifically feel to be coming from the left side of my chest...and no arm pains and all these other times...especially pulling him across the floor while i was on my belly and only using my arms....is quite the feat....he's 5'11 and at least 180 pounds...i'm 5'3" and 160...does this sound like a heart problem to anyone or is this what palpitations actually are? cause it seems pretty random..it happened just a tiny bit while just sitting out in the backyard today not moving just talking...

oh also i've been on my period tho this has never happened while on it before and i think the first time i happened was just before it started.

I'm not positive, but it sounds like maybe you are having PVC's or PAC's, if you google them, they explain. It is a heart thing, but VERY benign. I have them, and when at rest if I feel one, it sends panic through my whole body because its such a strange feeling. Its like a pause between beats, then a real strong beat or thump and then regular. I don't get them with exercise either, usually at rest or after exercising. They say to cut out caffeine, get enough sleep, less sugar, etc. But it still happens every now and then out of nowhere and always makes me panicky. Sometimes it almost feels like I can't catch my breath for a brief second or pressure in my upper chest/throat area. Hope this helps. I've been to cardiologists and worn monitors, had stresss tests, echocardiagrams, etc. and they say it is all okay.

Sounds like PAC is mainly palpitations...this has only been recent too...when did you start getting yours? My grandpa on my moms side also has atrial fibrilation and i was a little scared I may turn after him, actually him and his brothers have heart problems.

I'm hoping since i'm only 25 that it wont be a more serious condition underlying these other conditions you mentioned and that it's just my body being stupid and scaring me.

Mine started in my early twenties and sometimes I'd go a year or so and not notice them, and then BAM they'd start again. Mine are PVC's and docs say they are nothing and like 95 percent of people have them, but only a few feel them. I'm that lucky few.

So it could be nothing more than a kind of palpitation then? That's comforting to know. I always thought i'd had them before but it was no more than a slight skipped beat not like this...but i guess maybe this is what most palpitations are?

You may have super tight neck muscles. I have been freaking myself out for years about heart issues and recently I found out that I have tight scalene muscles, tight traps, and I (used to) hunch my shoulders which compresses my breathing capacity, etc. and pulls on my neck too, and those muscles connect all the way to your sternum/breastbone. It is very interesting. Have you had a massage lately? They could tell you about areas of tightness in your body.

I finally had to tell myself that all sensations that I feel in my upper body area are NOT heart related. There is alot of other body stuff there and I was wearing myself out worrying.

Hope you feel better soon.

Same thing with my heart it feels like it wants to stop or it stutters a bit. I did wear a heart monitor 2 different times & the Dr. said it is perfectly normal for this to happen & that it will not stop beating. He said that almost everyone’s heart does this but a certain few can feel it in there chest. Also stopping smoking & caffeine helped my heart calm down. Some decongestions will make my heart pause & start up again. Over eating & eating late at night made my heart do funny things also.
Take Care,
