I'm new to the program and am so far, very much impressed. I'd like to ask someone if they have any sure-fire ways to stop thoughts of work when you at home in the evenings or on the weekend.

Hello Ludwig, welcome to the forums. Yours is a classic problem and I have no sure fire ways of stopping it. I did used to do the same thing. I would always get my mind off work by doing things I enjoyed that had nothing to do with work. Even if it was just taking my dog Boomer to the park. Anything to keep mind off work. It does take some time though to retrain your thoughts so dont give up it is well worth the effort. Bruce

Unfortunately, there is no sure-fire, magic solution...just persistence, patience, and the skills that you are learning. I think the first step is stopping the thoughts of work when you realize you are having them. I was in a terrible work situation in 2006 right before this terrible anxiety hit, and a phrase that worked for me (and still does) is simply remind myself to: "Work at work." I decided that thinking about work was part of my work itself, and I might as well keep that thinking part of my time there when they were paying me to do it! It wasn't like I was coming to any great solutions by thinking things through at home...I was just making myself miserable more of the time. I still remind myself frequently, but the thoughts and ruminations are much less often when I am at home.

Hi there! I know its difficult but with time and learning your new skills it will become easier to let go of this. For many years work was a big problem for me. I've been thru about 50 jobs, sometimes I wasn't even able to start that day. But as time went but I realized it was my choice. I was creating the fears. I struggled thru a lot of anxiety and I still do but it gets a little easier each time you do something realize --- HEY I'M OK.
Remember, an Eagle never has the same air under its wings.
So it is with life, there is something different each day.
