hello all, i've never been diagnosed with ibs, but i'm wondering if i have it, my syptoms are low abdominal pains, no control over having to go i mean its like no way to stop it, and i cant leave to go do something as simple as shopping without having to go to the bathroom, at least twice before i make it out of the house, so i'm not sure my stomach problems are my anxious problems, or my anxious problems cause my stomach problems...

thanks for any help..

Hey Wango....

I am assuming since you mentioned that you were diagnosed with IBS that you have seen a Doctor and have had all the tests to have everything ruled out....infection, parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, colotis etc....because if you have then yes what you have could be IBS. I have IBS and it can be as bad as you have described or it can be mildly irritating...depending!! watching what you eat helps but stress and anxiety really aggravates it!! But it is a cycle....which came first. The best thing to do is eat right..get exercise...and then focus on squashing that anxiety......think positive and end that cycle. I make it sound easy...I know....its not but it is sure worth the effort. I have spent most of my life dealing with extreme stomach issues, have had every medical test and have tried many meds. Now I am trying this and I have a feeling it just might work!! Good luck to you and I hope you start feeling better real soon. Oh Yeah....increase the fiber in your diet and drink lots of water. Take care....Debra

Just adding my 2 cents.

I thought I had IBS but after attending an all day clinic @ AGH in Pittsburgh, the doctor advised me to get an flat Xray of my intestine. The results of the Xray were that my Colon contained a lot of fecal matter. The doctor said that while on my own I was reacting to the symptoms of diahrea, I was actually constipated. I began tracking my fiber consumption and including some Konsyl in the morning, I now average about 28-32 Grams of Fiber per day. My "outbreaks" have been reduced to once every couple of weeks or so.

Now, hopefully with this program, I can quit obsessing about the problem and move forward. Went to the Dentist this morning and the HArdware store even though my mind was telling me that I might have a "problem". I am home safe and sound.

Good Luck to you.
