Floating with it (accepting) AND positive self talk at the same time
Does anyone find it hard to float with it and talk yourself positive simulatneously?? I feel like if I am talking myself positive I am fighting and if I am floating with it I am succumbing to the negative feelings and thoughts and feeding it rather than shifting it....seems like a catch 22 only meditation can help.
Hey Abb,
In a way it is catch 22 self talk I think is for the really intrusive thoughts that are keeping you from floating. Think also giving the negative thought attention makes you feel your giving them weight or power.Reject them and leave it at that if you can ,it is hard !

ATTITUDE -- The mind is like a parachute...it doesn't work unless it's open!!
Hi abbette,
What you want to be doing is telling yourself that it's just anxiety or feelings of panic and you are fine, it will go away and not hurt me. Don't fear it or fight it, just calmly tell yourself it's all ok, I will be alright, It won't harm me.
Talk with kindness and compashion to yourself, soothe yourself in any way that works for you.
Best Wishes

hello
i agree with monty's mom i too have been battling with unwanted thoughts and everything you read on it says ocd or anxiety but the way that it is labled makes you feel like you are going to lose it. i just don't believe it is a mental illness i just believe that it is just our mind got caught up on something and we got scared and we cant' get over that horrible feelings that we had from the thought. if it was truley a mental illness there would be no changing it just from positive thoughts. i think the internet is very helpfull in some ways but it can scare the hell out of you too. i found at first the floating is very hard because you feel like you are fighting yourself to think aobut positive stuff. i am just now to the point were i can do things and actually forget about my 9 mo of scarythoughts but then i bring them back up myself without knowing by thinking hey see i can do it and then there goes one. i just now can say oh stop it is just anxiety let it go and i truly dooooo feel better so monty's mom is right on that. give it time. it take some soul searching and believing in yourslef to fix it and it can be done.

The acceptance takes a while to occur. I felt the same way as abbette does in the beginning. I still had the urge to fight some of this even after completing the program the first time. It was after completing the program the second time that I finally really felt like I was accepting, floating, and at the same time being positive about it all. It is hard to explain, but I now feel like I can co exist with some anxiety and feel ok about all of it. None of it scares me anymore, and I think this is the key.
