chat rooms
I keep trying every day to get on chat but cant. I have an HP computer with Windows XP, I have DSL. Windows is up to date, Java is up to date, I have Adobie Flash player 10, I have Adobie Shockwave player 11, what else do I need. I also have a good anti virus on here. Before the new format I was able to get on chat once but only tried once. Now with the new format I try to get on everyday but cant. All I get is the little guy in the middle of the screen that twirls & turns blue. Then there is what looks like a light bulb (not sure what they call it) in the upper left corner, if I click on it, it jumps to the left & that’s all that happens.
Hi triple L
Your firewall may be blocking the port used for chat. contact admin for advice on firewall and port settings. or check some older threads about this subject. i remember reading about this when it became an issue. they may be using a different port than before and ur firewall is now blocking access to that port thinking it is an attack. to prove it out go into control panels select firewall and disable and then try the chat, just to see if that works, if you can access the chat and interact for a few, then get out of chat and enable your fire wall; you will need that. but then you will know that you are on the right track.

Thanks Gman but that didn’t work either. I'm giving up. I am also thinking about not posting any more. When I do post I only get 1 or 2 people to reply & most of the time no one does. Talk about depressing. I thought people on here would try & help each other more. I look down the list of post & see way too many people not getting any replies or just 1 or 2 back. I tried to reply back to people who have the same symptoms I have so I at least tried. Gman you & Ms T. Bones do a very good job of helping others, don’t ever stop.
Thanks,
Larry
Thanks,
Larry
Hi Larry,
Don't lose heart, it's that way a lot of times. I used post replies and try to help most everybody, the best I could, sometimes with encouragement, sometimes with a pep talk, sometimes with a dose of cold reality, sometimes with spiritual encouragement and sometimes with humor, but I try to do it all with love and not mean spiritedness, but I have limited my postings to the forum, cause I am working on other things.
I have limited my input to spiritual, depression and humor. I am convinced people do not read many posts about medications or bother to find things on there own, but would rather conduct unscientific polls or post concerns they should have been aware about prior to taking meds, but they trusted the doctors and didn't ask questions then. It is a mess that many find themselves in whether they are anti-depressants or other stuff. You really have to be your own best advocate.
I have enough troubles with this so I am avoiding that forum. I want nothing to do with meds and will not, on my own allow anyone to put me on anything without checking things on my own first. The doctors can prescribe all they want, whether I will fill the prescription is another matter.
You have been registered since Sept. 2008. haven't you established a friendship with some on the forums? Perhaps you can try, responding to concerns of others and develop confidence in helping others out. Many people have different approaches. I don't try to start topics outside of the areas mentioned. I once posted on the meds forum and it got little or no notice. I think people that post on that forum are more interested on overcoming issues with meds they are taking, and not on natural remedies or treatments. Hey it is what it is. It is odd that people with these disorders know they need help but don't want anyone to tell them what to do. It's sort of a catch 22. But all anyone can do is try. It is sometimes very discouraging to me, but I just try and keep trying. It's all i can do.
Thanks for saying positive stuff about my stuff. I didn't know you were a guy. If you have something you really have to get some support about, pm me. I may not know but maybe I can relate to something going on with you. Hey I am near 60, there's not much I haven't seen. Who knows, I might be able to help. Personally, I think this is the most effective way to help someone. It is as though the people take each other on as a burden, but it really is no burden because both people benefit from the process. I have done more of that more than on the forum.
Chin up guy, it's all good. Don't give up, keep investing in yourself, it will pay off sooner or later.
TC, hang in there and if you get pressed for help you can count on me for an ear and some encouragement and support.

Triple...
Don't give up that easily. I am sure there is some fight left in you!!! I do not respond to the meds much either, since, I have an intolerance to anti-depressants!!!!
I think most of the people are the forum are suffering themselves, therefore, they, like you are also reaching out for help.
My hubby gets a little irritated if I stay on the forum too much. I can totally understand that, since, he wants to me to spend time with him.
So, I take times when I just have to back off just a little, and take care of my household chores, and see to the needs of my hubby and daughter. Plus, I have a lot of company, and I like to give them my undivided attention.
I will reply as much as I possibly can. G-man, whom, I call Bub, is an excellent listener.
I think since you are a guy, you may find find comfort in sending him a PM. He is very uplifting, and can help you in soooo many ways!!!
Don't ever give up...God Bless

G-man...Bub...You sounded just like me when you said the doctors could write out all the prescriptions they wanted, but, they did not mean you had to take them.
Many times, I have had doctors to write me out a prescriptions, that I honestly did not feel any need, whatsoever to take. I have a choice on what medication, that I choose to put in my body...LOL...
I do a lot of research on the internet. Knowledge is power...Right????

Hi T and L,
T that is really nice of you to say. I'd give it my best try, and it is a good thing if you decide to give it a try. BTW, T-sis, you are so lucky to have some human interaction, that is a great thing, and helps to take some of the focus on what may be troubling you and may when you are having a problem they can listen or hear you out.
However, even then, people that may be close to you, sort of shut down because they are trying to figure out what troubles they are dealing with, but may not want to talk about it. But at least there are opportunities for other discussions (neutral stuff) to provide some relief, even if a little, it's better than none.
T, to tell the truth, I have enough trouble looking at the display, and sometimes my eyes seem to get crossed and I have to shake my head as if that will put my eye balls straight. I have to switch eye glasses, I try all sorts of things, but no matter I still make mistakes. I wouldn't worry about an minor errors you may have made, I can't tell if you made any mistakes.
Take care

Hi T-sis,
What part was funny? The part that family or friends don't really want to hear your problems but they have to tell you theirs? That's what really happens, and your there hearing all their stuff and then once they unload, opps, I have to run... That part, or the stuff about me shaking my head hoping my eye balls get straight, So I can read the posts on these awful blue back grounds that do not enhance the view for reading? They are both true
