hoping to get some opinions on a feeling i get.
i have had feelings of being off balance and slightly dizzy for a year now. it is hard to know if it is anxiety related or a combination of things. even doctors have a hard time being definitive in their diagnoses when it comes to dizziness.

anyway sometimes i get a weird feeling like a jolt or as if someone pushed me from behind and i have to grab on to something to keep my balance. it comes out of nowhere but sometimes it seems to be related to my vision or position of my neck.

for instances if i see something move out of the corner of my eye and my eye follows it briefly it gives me the weird jolt feeling. i hate it!!!
maybe it is all related to vision and not anxiety. i just don't know.

has anyone else experienced this type of jerk/jolt feeling? maybe it is a form of dehydration. i spoke to my ent about it and he was no help :(

thanks!!!

Couple things I would check out right away if I were you -
Have you seen an opthamologist to rule out any eye problems?
I assume your ent has checked for any inner ear issues.
What about blood pressure? Is it normal?
And blood sugar - do you eat regularly enough?
You could also try a few sessions of medical massage on your neck to see if muscle spasms could be playing a part. Knots around nerves in your neck could be causing spasms or putting pressure on nerves connected to things that could make you dizzy...

Also - the squeaky wheel gets the grease when it comes to medicine - if you don't go back to your doctor and complain, they are going to assume you are ok. So go and demand more investigation and diagnostics.

Finally - if it is only anxiety, anti anxiety medications should lessen or get rid of the problem - if you try meds for anxiety and it doesn't improve, it's probably not anxiety!

Good luck, let us know what you find out.

hi coco,i have the same problem but i have 2 herniated discs in my neck and they are pressing on my spine i finally figured out what was wrong when i saw a nuerologist who sent me for a mri of my neck.it may be from anxiety but i would definatly have them check your neck exspecially if youve ever been in an auto accident or had any trauma to that area.hope this helps.

I would make sure you have a doctor do a complete blood panel if you haven't done so already. I had similar symptoms for several years and was finally diagnosed as being severely anemic... on regular supplements, I rarely feel dizzy anymore! Good luck!

Wow, lot's of good questions.
Here are some answers and what I know.......
I have low blood pressure but do things to keep it up.
I was anemic a year ago but have been on supplements and I am okay.
Recently had a blood panel and all was well!!
I do have low blood sugar and eat really well and often to keep it up.
My neck has issues. I use to see a chiropractor regularly and she did 30 minutes of deep tissue massage. Active release therapy.
I have had 2 mris in 9 years.
I have spent over 30, 000.0 in diagnostic tests in 9 years.
I have always had a little dizziness here and there but in the last year it has become an ISSUE!!! Specifically balance.
Perhaps it is my eyes. I see my eye doctor regularly because i have glaucoma. maybe I need glasses.
Arrgggg I just turned 46. Some say it is hormones.

I DON'T KNOW ANYMORE :(
If it is anxiety then I am waiting for it to go away like all the other symptoms eventually did.

As I type and look down and up it makes me feel a little off. I just ate, not anxious etc....yet it continues to happen.

It is overwhelming and I am sorry if I am overwhelming everyone. Just venting and looking for answers :)

Maybe it is time to try meds (Lexapro?)
and go back to the chiropractor.

I REALLY appreciate the feedback and the help!!!

Good for you for still investigating and not giving up!

I think the chiropractor is a good idea with the massage - I go to a TCM Dr. whose nickname is Dr. Pain - she has worked on my head and neck and has given me relief from headaches when all the meds stopped working.

Keep looking and you will find the answers.

Hey I seem to have vertigo on and off a lot now and hate it. Weak, dizzy wobbly, and faint are not very comfortable you know. I have looked at possible causes, bad allergies, inner ear infection and on and on. I feel that most of the problem is stress related and axiety, the doc doesn't seem to know either. Oh I twitch at times during the day, and when I sleep, but so doesn't some of my family...

coco

I have had what your saying I always thought of it as a dip on a roller coaster...and yes its been so strong at times I acutally had to grap the table. I do believe it is anxiety related and for me it was happening alot when I was taking sudafed regularly. Which was raising my blood pressure and so I had to stop but I took it fairly religiously for years. I would feel that dip often times when it was time for another dose.

I do think it has to do with blood pressures and sugars as well...not that you should stress just that you keepin your pressures up and your sugars balanced is a good thing. Keep doing that. Water water water...the more water I drink the better I feel and the dizziness is much decreased. When I do feel the sensation of dizziness I usually need sleep if I go to sleep I feel much much much better. For me sleep is very important espcially since I handle stress so much more intensely.

I use my program skills everyday. I review lessons when I get paniced cuz the more I worry the worse the symptoms. You need to tell yourself I have checked my health out thoroughly and I am fairly healhty so you must begin to believe in it and work on your anxiety. Do your prgram. Use your relaxation cd and others if you find cds or tapes that work for you. Balance your life with good diet and excersise and that positive self talk is so important.

Next time you get one of those dippy feelings tell yourself Ive had these before Im ok.....The doctors have checked everything out...have some water or some gaterade if your pressures tend to be low the litte added sodium in that drink might help you a whole lot.

Good luck

Coco2,

I just read your post and other as well. I have the dizzy feeling that you are speaking about. Mine is due to anxiety. I sometimes feel like my legs are going to just give out. I also get real dizzy from seeing things out of the corner of my eyes. I do know how you feel and I was told once that I may have diabtes, but had blood work and nothing at all like that was wrong. I am anemic but that is not always why I feel the way I do. I when I get nervous or am stressed I get dizzy and have to talk myself out of it. If I put peroxide in my ears to clean them when my ear hurts I feel dizzy for hours. If there is nothing the doctors can find you need to pay attention to what you were thinking and what you were stressed about and see if it has to do with anxiety because I realized that mine has everything to do with my anxiety. I hope that you can find out what it is but if you stop and think of what you were stressed or thinking about you may realize that it has everything to do with anxiety like mine has in the past.

Blessings~Jennifier
