I started on birth control pills to regulate my cycles about 4 months ago. At first it seemed to help but the past month or so I'm just tired all the time. The last 2-3 weeks especially. I have had headaches and just want to sleep. I'm not having the usual depressed thoughts; I am just not motivated and tired. This past week I had a low grade fever 99.3 and went to a walk-in clinic with a nurse practitioner. She said I had a sinus infection and gave me antibiotics.

It is a week later and I just got it filled last night and took one. But, today I'm not feeling like I have sinus any more. . . so I'm considering not bothering with the antibiotics because they can cause other problems. Yesterday though I took my temp a few times and sometimes it was 99.3 and sometimes it was normal. I also had these really weird headaches where lights were bothering me and I'd see streaks of light coming from lamps.

This seems so strange. . . I don't know if I have a sinus infection, some problem with hormones, or if I'm just worn out for some reason.

Can anxiety make your temperature go up? I have these periods of time where I feel chilled . . . I'm just SO COLD that I can hardly move. I bundle all up and eventually it goes away.

I'm normally not one to worry too much about my health but I feel like I'm falling apart all the sudden. I'm only 42. Also, I gained 10lbs since I stared on the pill. And I have had problems with my stomach since being on it.

But, I'm afraid if I go off it that I'll have more of the anxiety and racing thoughts again. That has been the one thing that is better. . . but at the cost of feeling like I'm just "sick."

Any thoughts? Sorry to whine!

Hi Faith,

I may not be the one to help you with the female stuff, but how about your nutrition? I are you getting enough iodine from fish, etc. You are at an age where that M word may be starting to bug you.

I don't know what else you may be taking in the form of meds, but you might want to check to see if what you are experiencing are side effects from contra-indications of the mix of meds or supplements.

You might be able to use this site to check on that:

<A HREF="http://www.livingnaturally.com/common/a ... 35785A#Use" TARGET=_blank>http://www.livingnaturally.com/common/a ... 85A#Use</A>

just enter what you are taking and find out for yourself.

As far as birth control, maybe you should talk to your doctor, review everything you're taking and see if depo-pravera (I am trying to spell it the way it sounds) may be a better answer for that purpose some other thing like mirena. Heck, i don't know what I am talking about, but just trying to provide some food for thought.

I hope you get better soon.

Thanks. I do think my nutrition has been pretty bad lately. I am making improvements there, cutting sugar back out, etc.

I'm going to talk to my doctor tomorrow to see if it's iron or thyroid or just a reaction to the synthetic hormones.

I feel horrible, like I should just go home and crawl in bed. But I'm not going to give up yet!

That's good that you are going to see your doctor. I would like to say more but I have stuff on the grill and on the stove. I am trying to multi-task.

Don't give! I hope you get better real soon.

Faith - I was going through that at a few weeks ago. I was sleeping almost 10-12 hours a day. No depression or anxiety. I then started to have pain in my jaw and found out I had a cyst in my gum that abcessed. The doctor told me the infection was wiping me out. He put me on an antibiotic and removed the cyst after I cycled through the antibiotic. My energy level is back. You may not feel your sinus infection, but your body is trying to fight an infection, that is probably why you are running a low-grade fever.

Good Luck at the doctor.

Faith I'm not a doctor but whenever our bodies need to heal, we need to sleep more. The fatigue is telling you something - get more sleep!

Even if you are sleeping 8 hours a day it may not be enough. I've heard of people who go to fasting centers to heal their bodies who will sleep 24-48 hours only getting up to go to the bathroom and have some water...that's some DEEP healing right there.

Sometimes our bodies need a ton of catch up sleep or just need to sleep while healing goes on. Our bodies can't heal issues very well when we are awake. Another reason why people who are sick or have the flu can sleep for 2-3 days in a row.

I say listen to your body, get to bed earlier or take a cat nap in the middle of the day - whenever you can catch extra Z's go for it.

Also stay hydrated, lots of water and get some kind of movement if you can, this will help you sleep. Take a walk or do some kind of physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day or as your doctor allows.

Thanks guys. That makes me feel better. I hope the doctor figures out what is bothering me. I just want to feel good again. I feel like I'm sort of a bummer to be around. My daughter had a friend over Saturday night and I had them go to bed at 9pm because I was too tired to stay up any longer.

Also, my husband has started struggling with depression again and that wears me out too.

Hi guys and gals,

I am so glad that all the ladies got over here in a hurray. I was stressing out so bad over what else to share with Faith, and it was a little uncomfortable that I had to go busy myself with some other stuff. Thank God you sharp ladies are around to provide that gentle womens touch.

I made some chops and steaks and prepared my special rice, even if I am sore from all the running back and forth (I say running, it more like a fast Tim Conway shuffle), but even that strain was at least something I have grown used to, compared to giving a lady advice about womans health.

At least I tried... :D

Hey there! Thanks so much!! Don't stress yourself over me. I'm a tough one. I've been through much much worse than this. That's part of what is bugging me. I have been so much more stressed and had so much worse going on in my life than I do right now. . . so I'm just thinkin'. . . why would I feel so bad now all the sudden. Stinkin' hormones, I'm thinking. :)

I'll let you know how things go tomorrow. But you don't worry. I'm not. . .just more curious is all. . . he'll probably tell me to take the antibiotics that I already have and then I'll be kicking myself for not just taking them to begin with. LOL

Hey faith I have had hormone issues and they can really make you tired. Also I had a sinus infection a few weeks ago that REALLY made me tired. I was on antibiotics for a week and still felt tired. Went back to the doc and they said it was normal to feel still so tired and that it would last about 2 weeks. Even though the symptoms are gone the fatigue will still hang around because your body is still fighting it. Have your doc check all your hormones and keep us posted.
