Brooke,
I know that I should of probably stated that differently. The thoughts seem to replace your previous fearful thoughts that no longer scare you.
With that being said, once you overcome this one, what can be worse than a thought of hurting yourself???

Once this is no longer feared it will be mich easier to let the power out of ALL scary thoguhts.
Trust me on this one.
I have had these thoughts often over the past year and a half.
The program is the best thing that has ever happened to me and now I can recognize when I am distracting myself with these silly thoughts.
Even is there is something that isn't going on in your life that you are trying to distract yourself from, it could just be a BAD HABIT way of thinking that will take some time to get over.
Take care and keep us posted!!!!!
hugs to all of you!!
ALso read this article it will definitely help tons!!

Chris I feel the same way you do about all this-I am still trying to figure out why I am having these scarey rediculous thoughts but I guess because it is the worst thing that could happen. I love my life and want to get through this so bad-and I will-with plenty of practice-you will to!

Yes, I was there some years ago (about 15 years ago) and stopped myself from those kind of thoughts, what helped me was the fact that I wanted to live. I had much that I wanted to do that I'd not done yet, I have a son (all grown up now) that I wanted to watch grow and be better than I was at that point (he has a family of his own now).
Sure am glad I wimped out of that one.

Hi Brooke. From everything I've read and heard from people who have attempted suicide, just snapping isn't one of the symptoms, unless perhaps the person is taking some kind of narcotic that may cause them to snap, but even then they usually have thoughts, or think about it first. Sometimes it may seem as if a person just snaps like you may hear on the news, but when you dig deeper, you find out that a lot has led up to suicide before the person does/or attempts it. Sometimes loved ones don't see the signs that the suicidal person had before the suicide happens.Only in retrospect do they see why it happened. I felt before that I wanted to die while I've been in a deep depression, but I didn't want to commit suicide. I know where your coming from. No you won't just snap and do it. Anxiety makes us have all kinds of odd thoughts at times. Below are the signs that someone is thinking of ending their life. Snapping isn't one of them. The fact that you have ordered the program, and are on here talking to us and getting help with your issues is a very good thing. Some people never get help for depression and it festers like a boil and that's the dangerous thing. Hope I've helped some. :)Also the part below where they say the person talks about suicide, it doesn't mean like the way we are talking about it, it means actually talking about it sort of in a way that makes it almost sound comforting, if you know what I mean.

BELOW IS TAKEN FROM HEALTHYPLACE.COM

"There is no typical suicide victim. It happens to young and old, rich and poor. Fortunately there are some common warning signs of suicide which, when acted upon, can save lives. Here are some signs to look for:"

A suicidal person might be suicidal if he or she:
Talks about committing suicide
Has trouble eating or sleeping
Experiences drastic changes in behavior
Withdraws from friends and/or social activities
Loses interest in hobbies, work, school, etc.
Prepares for death by making out a will and final arrangements
Gives away prized possessions
Has attempted suicide before
Takes unnecessary risks
Has had recent severe losses
Is preoccupied with death and dying
Loses interest in their personal appearance
Increases their use of alcohol or drugs

Thank you so much, girlwisdom... your post helped. And thanks again everyone... you all helped.

I guess if you're worried about commiting suicide, and you want to live, then you're not really suicidal... you're just afraid of the thoughts... like all the other scary thoughts that come with anxiety disorder.

GirlWisdom-thanks for this post. There are a few on the list that can be confused with just not feeling good and depressed like you said. The ones about appearance-when we are depressed we really don't care anything about it-also the preoccupation with death and dying-people with anxiety this about this a lot just because they are scared of it so that is another that people may read and freak because they are like well am I really this way-so as you know we all are sensitive so if someone has some of the more minor ones from this list do not be alarmed becuase we are the people who read something and overanalyze it. But thank you for this list-just remember that these are the people who WANT to do this and we are not. We just get scared easily.

People who are truly in danger of taking their own life are comforted by the thought of suicide (even daydreaming / fantasizing about it), and have a genuine desire for their life to end.

You clearly do not want to die (you stated this directly), and you are fearful of these thoughts when you have them. So, I think you simply are having some obsessive scary thoughts that just happen to be about suicide. This program is an excellent place to begin working through all those scary thoughts.

I know what you mean, they are just thoughts. I've had them too but when I do it makes me cry thinking about my husband and son who I love dearly being without me, that's how I know it's just a thought and would never happen if it bothers me that much, it's just a distraction!
