I was also a tomboy as a kid--always climbing trees, riding my bike recklessly, going out into the woods for real long walks and runs. We had the Holston River behind our house and owned some horses. I trained some of them , breaking them into the halter, bridle, then saddle. It was really fun working with them. I trained one little mare that was so smart if you just shifted your weight, she would turn. Idyllic childhood if my mother wasn't a little whacko. She would tell us to disappear for the day, so we just ran around like wild Indians all summer and only went home to eat.
Wow Samcat, I bet you had a "ball" with those horses!!! I do know a little something about those "disappear" days...LOL

There were 5 of us children and you may say that we lived in the woods!!!

I absolutely loved running!!! I don't think I ever walked..LOL..

I loved swinging on those "grape vines" that was my very favorite thing to do!!!

I actually would climb up on top of a cliff and swing on a grapevine way out in the air, and there was a trailer below!!! Too crazy for me!!!

My mother never could see well, so she would just yell at us, not to be swinging on that grapevine and us "rascals" would do it again, just as soon as she walked inside ;)

I also loved playing cowboys and Indians!!! We did that one a whole lot...Tee Hee!!!

I spent all of my childhood down in "deep hollers"...I mean very long ones!!!

We had a creek down below our house way down in the forest!!! I absolutely loved playing in that creek!!!

My dad built our first home when I was five and I grew up down in that holler and that is where my mother lives this very day ;)

I still live in a holler, but not nearly as steep and long as the hollers I lived in as a child growing up!!!

Honestly, I wish I could go back there, if for one day!!! No concerns of any kind!!! The "sweet innocence of children"...

I am glad you enjoyed the photos!!! Trust me samcat, my life is far from a "bed of roses" though!!! :(

I don't think anyone has that perfect little life!!! I don't think it exists in our world, and that is the whole truth!!!

I have more than my share of heartaches and problems, my dear friend!!!

Nothing is "that" simple anymore :(

I pray you and cream cheese have a great night's rest!!! Love, Cloie

Ms. T Bones and Samcat.......UGH...unbeleivable about those mosquitoes.....I have a question Samcat....How is it that we always seem to get some kind of insect or flu from foreign countries.....shouldnt we reciprocate those generous donations that give us? LOL
Ms. T BOnes....I love the country. Its just so peaceful quiet, I feel God More when I am there, thats why I want to move to the country.
I have a question for you Ms. T BOnes..I didnt get a chance to view your pics yet....I have been sorting through old photos here looking for something for my brother. Here is my question.....What is a Holler? sounds like somewhere where there is a cliff and you holler off it? creamcheese.

Good morning cream cheese :) :) :),
A holler is an old country road, which can be a road which has been graveled, or a road which has not!!! It usually has a curve of two, and you have to drive out into a "densely" forest area to get to where you are going!!!

In my case, we lived down a very deep holler, which means a very steep long road which continues going down hill through the forest, until you finally arrive at your destination!!!

Most hollers do have an end to them, unlike a lot of other types of roads!!! They are always one lane and very slender roads...More like a very wide open pathway, which can or cannot be graveled or black-topped...Tee HEEEEEEEEEE!!!

A lot of people use these type of roads as 4 wheeler (ATV) trails, but I think of mine as a normal graveled road...LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!

It is "called" a holler, because us country folks, don't have a "lick of sense" :D :D :D

I am glad you enjoy the country :) :) :)!!! You may want to try living in a holler out in the country :D ;)

Have a beautiful day filled with much sunshine, joy and laughter...Cloie

Cream Cheese,

I agree with you about the flu and insect pests from the Orient. We do seem to get a large amount of bad stuff from there. I have been ticked at China ever since they got melamine into our pet food supply.

I used to live in New Jersey--beautiful state when you get away from Newark Airport. I think holler is just the local pronunciation for hollow, which is basically what it is. Ever read any Adriana Trigiani books, like Big Stone Gap? She lives in coal country and talks about hollers.

Samcat. A fellow almost city slicker!!!
I am close to New York City but far enough away to see how it is changing the area here. I love the country. I am about 30 minutes from Newark airport and I am really disgusted living here.
Yes, China gets on my last nerve....we get too much junk from there...we dont make our our prodcts here to support our own country here...very sad.
I am on Session 4 now, expectations....I think the tapes are ok.....but nothing is like DOING and HELPING yourself out. You have to have a strong mindset and say "HEY!! I am a good person and I dont deserve to treat myself like this, so I wont!!!! I was interested in your name Samcat....do you have a cat? creamcheese

Hi cream cheese,

We have 2 cats now. My user name is for our oldest cat Samantha. She will be 17 in May, if she makes it. She is battling chronic renal failure. We got her when she was 3 weeks old and she has always been very feisty and a terror at the vet's office. She is a gorgeous calico, mostly black, with a white chest almost like a tuxedo and then the cream markings. We used to live in Ringwood, NJ and for Halloween one year, a teenager asked us if we painted our cat like that for Halloween? LOL

I used to love to go into New York City. That place has so much energy. My husband, on the other hand, is a native of North Haledon, NJ and every time we would leave the city, he would say "Well, we cheated death again." That always cracked me up. Here I am, from a dinky little town in Virginia, loving New York and he is from around there and hated it.

I don't keep up with New Jersey politics since I have lived in Memphis for the past 11 years, but my husband said the taxes have gotten really bad there now.

Still, I enjoyed it a lot while I lived there. Everybody thinks New Jersey is just concrete, but there are some gorgeous parts. We lived at the foot of a mountain and even had bears come through the back yard. We were right on the border of Bergen and Passaic counties. What I miss most is the beautiful fall color, when all the trees change. In Memphis, they just kind of turn a little and then drop off.

Sorry you are so disgusted living there now. You said you were thinking about moving to Vermont. My sister used to live around Norfolk and she just moved to the far eastern part of Tennessee. She was looking for some place with a low crime rate and reasonable cost of living. She is living in the Kingsport/Johnson city/ Bristol area, right on the edge of the Applachian mountains and has some gorgeous views. You might want to check that spot out.

You are right--to get over anxiety, you have to have a strong mindset and rewire all your negative thinking. Sounds like you have the right attitude to conquer this junk. I am currently on my second go round of the Program and am on session 10 about obsessive thinking. I think I am learning more the second time around than I did the first time.

Your cat sounds gorgeous--it sounds like one I had as a teenager. He was a beauty--all puffy fur and cream colored. Had a wonderful temperament too.

Nice talking to you. There are so many nice people on this forum, I wish we could meet in real life--wouldn't that be great?
