I'll send St. Peter your regards. I'll be up in Heaven in the nose bleed seats.

It's funny, now that I am really reading your reply I realized I ended up taking your advice about doing something nice for myselfOriginally posted by Gisette:
Sorry to hear about the let-down, Charlie Brown. It's rough on the ego, job-hunting. To keep trying and trying, and hearing "no" and "no", or more commonly, the resounding echoing silence.
Until you hear one "yes" and you're done.
One of the least fun games ever devised.
I'm not Christian. But the idea that God has lost confidence in your desire to go back into sales... Well, I think it's a lot more likely that you're discouraged than that He's opposed or has conflicting plans.
The job market just sucks right now. Like musical chairs, and we didn't get the ones available when the music went off. And in a scary economy, everyone who's got a chair, no matter how little they like it, ain't gonna give it up. Yet.
But there are signs that the recession is ending. Then people will get job-mobile again. And the people who got chairs in sales during a deep recession probably haven't been well pleased with their chairs, so many will give them up as soon as it's safe, and there will be a free chair someplace you want to be. In the meantime, we keep trying and polish whatever new skills we think will help...
Hang in there. Do something nice (and cheap) for yourself today.
Thanks as always, Cloie.Originally posted by Mrs T Bones:

Goodnight my dear friend!!! May God richly bless you...Cloie
It maybe so what you wrote in the first paragraph, but then I see the position I was vying for posted back up on Careerbuilder or another site. That spurs on anger and frustration because the passed on me, I know I can do the job, and they're still lookingOriginally posted by Gisette:
Like samcat, I think you just can't take it personally. The people who are considering hiring you have a zillion people to choose from and - even worse - probably spend the weekend studying fortune cookies, get frightened, and decide not to hire anyone. Companies where I have better insider visibility have done that to me - almost at the finish gate and, "Er, no, we've just restored our hiring freeze, sorry." Some others it became clear that they never did have any intention of hiring someone. They just used the excuse to bring people in and pick their brains for free.
My biggest, most long-standing client just stood me up for 3 months on paying invoices from January. They never did pay me through normal channels - the invoices were hung up in never-never land in perpetuity, so far as I could tell. Monday I managed to get an angel in Accounts Payable to pull them towards completion from the other end and I will at last get paid tomorrow or Friday!
Don't take it personally... They're being insufferably rude or worse to everybody.
