Spritual attack?
I can't believe we're having a "the devil made me do it" discussion about anxiety disorder.
If the devil = your negative thinking and avoidance behaviour then okay, I'm with you. But if the devil = horns and a tail, come on. No rational person, no matter how religious you are (and I'm christian btw) would ever believe that.
If you're a christian and you've been baptized and you've invited jesus and god into your life, you are protected by the almighty father himself so HOW can the devil have ANY power over you? HOW?? If you insist that he does, then what you're saying is that the devil is more powerful than God.
Now can we PLEASE stop blaming mom, dad, the cat, and the devil for our problems? Let's start taking responsibility for ourselves... only then will we get over it.

I don't think Sandina was attempting to lay complete blame on anyone. she was merely acknowledging that she felt as though the devil is trying to make her miserable. I know that when I had anxiety the first time which lasted about 2 years, I could not read the bible because I would feel like I would go crazy (thinking about horrible things, hell, satan, ect). Satan can try to tempt a saved person. He doesn't just think, "oh well, that person's saved, guess I'll leave them alone." He has no reason to attack those who aren't saved. He tried to tempt Jesus Christ. Look at King David!
I agree that anxiety is a physical/behavioral disorder, although when one is in the grip of anxiety, it sure feels like it is something evil!
Take care!

Satan that poopie head. He is out to destroy and don't ever think that you are not going to get attacked. The Lord is coming soon and he knows it so he is going to try to get us Christians out of the way and thinking about other stuff than to be working for the Kingdom.
It is our fault if we don't get out of it and get back in the race.
It is so easy for people to blame God when bad things happen well I think we need to blame that stupid devil. He feeds us lies and if we fall for it well then that is our fault.
WE need to be there for each other pick each other up and keep running in this race.
It isn't over yet. I thank God that He gives us His word so many verses on fear Psalms 91 is the one I am trying to memorize right now. He gives us a way out and if we choose to go that way we will have the Victory and overcome.
It is true we do things to ourselve but he is there to keep us down.
Be Blessed everyone and Keep running the race it isn't over yet

I agree with Francecsa’s post of Dec 21. Here is a scripture that proves we can make the devil leave us alone: James 4:7-8 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
NKJV
We know that satan used to be an arc-angel and that he thought he would become higher and better than God, why didn’t this happen? Because God is the creator and the devil is the created (a created being just like you and I) so who do you think is stronger, the Creator or the created? The creator of course! OK< here is another scripture taken from the Amplified Bible:
Romans 8:31-33 “What then shall we say to all this? If God be for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe if God is on our side?] 32 “ He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect [ when it is] God Who justifies [that is, Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us?]
Very powerful huh? So now I personally know straight from God’s word that I am able to (and also have the authority!) to resist the devil and he SHALL flee! It doesn’t say that MAYBE he shall flee, but it says that he WILL FLEE! If I feel that the enemy is after me (which isn’t often anymore) I say to him “I refuse you satan, get out right NOW! I resist you!” (And I sometimes quote the scripture above that states that he WILL FLEE!)
Much of the time the so-called enemy is our own minds (maybe sub-conscience) A lot of times we are our own worst enemy because of the self-loathing thoughts that go on in our mind. We need to learn that we are really NOT that low-down person that we have been taught (whether by peers, parents or an event that hurt us) The battlefield is truly in our mind! Joyce Meyer has a book by that title, I have not read it but I am sure it is good. At this point I will recommend a book by Joel Osteen titled ‘Your Best Life Now’. WOW it is really good! I got mine on CD because of the clouded mind I cant concentrate real well to read.
Sorry I wrote a small book, here, and I have more to say, but maybe next time. Take care all! And remember, You ARE God’s handy-work! You are fearfully and wonderfully made!

Rod, I agree with you also, and I have listened to "Your Best Life Now" on audio and I'm currentely listening to "Battlefield of the Mind" that I got for Christmas. Both are excellent reference books. Good luck to you, and Sandina on your journey as well as everyone in the group. Let's make this our best year yet. I wish all of you a Happy and Blessed New Year.
Peace be with You,
Rocky

Many things have been said. One thing that hasn't been clearly stated: Satan can introduce thoughts into your head. Not that he can control you - you can choose to recognize his thought or eliminate it. "Take every thought captive". Is a thought right, the truth? What will you do with that thought? When a weird thought pops into your head be suspicious (but not paranoid, because you can just release the thought if it is not good).
