I've heard that enzymes are what people need when they are suffering with indigestion, gas and stuff. I don't suffer with indigestion but I love to read up on alternative health and stuff-(I have cut back on reading anything medical since starting the program)and the really weird thing that I have read a few times and I was blown away and soo confused is that alot of people with these problems say they 'produce' too much acid but in reality, they aren't producing enough! I know, the prescriptions are 'acid-reducing' but I swear I've read that before. They take the medicine and are really maintaining the problem.....don't really know though. DGL licorice is supposed to be really good too-it protects the lining of the stomach and intestines. It's a form of licorice that DOES NOT raise blood pressure. (reg. licorice supp. can). Hope you feel better.

Hello Emily 75,
I deal with the same exact thing and I can tell you that it is due to your anxiety. However there are things you can do to make it better. I took protonix for approx. a year however it made me very irritiable. It was a great medicine for the indigestion though. I have noticed that alot of it had to do with the food I was eating. I cannot have eggs, dairy, tamatoe based products or anything spicy. I also have realized that peppermint with someone who already has stomach problems is horrible it will make it 10x worse. I hope this helps I know it did me.

I take Nexium, Carafate, and Maalox daily and nothing seems to help with my stomach problems. The last 3 months have been horrible, and I'm beginning to wonder if it's my anxiety causing my problems. The difficulty for me is what is a true physical problem and what I have created out of anxiety. Does anyone else deal with this?

Having suffered from this as well, for me I have found for IBS, a product called Equalactin helped, it's OTC and you take it with a glass of water. As well eating yogurt (like Activia) once a day also helped immensely.

I have indigestion most days. I've tried a lot of stuff. Have had scopes done. Nothing is wrong. That's great but it is miserable. I also get IBS, and overactive bladder. I saw this could all be related with the anxiety and lack of 5-HTP. Have lost weight too and don't need that! Just needed someone to talk to. Thanks for listening.

Someone else posted this, and it is true. Not having enough stomach acid has pretty much the same symptoms.

Try apple cider vinegar. You can read about it here or on many other sites.

Digestive enzymes and probiotics (good bacteria) are imperative when dealing with digestive issues.

Hi...I have been suffering with chronic indigestion (also called "functional dyspepsia" or "non-ulcer dyspepsia") for over 8 years now. If acid reducing meds aren't helping, or if apple cider vinegar doesn't work, which they didn't for me, you could very well have what I have. It's a "functional" disorder like IBS where there is nothing "physically" wrong with your stomach and intestines...they just stop functioning correctly from time to time. In functional dyspepsia, the food you ingest moves extra slow through your small intestines, thus causing nausea, indigestion and gas because the food sits there too long and ferments. It's quite a miserable condition, and actually, there is no cure. I have tried all the meds the doctors have given me to no avail. I have done a lot of research on this subject as it has caused me a great lack of quality in my life. I have tried fennel tea with drops of peppermint oil...very soothing to the stomach and helps some of the gas. Also...I purchased some charcoal capsules from the drugstore. This has helped more than any RX meds I've tried. Also...when you are suffering with a bout of indigestion, eat things like baked potato, dry toast, noodles, plain chicken breast...and I eat Activia yogurt. Do not drink liquids with your meals...that is an absolute no no as the liquid dilutes your digestive enzymes which in turn makes the food sit in your stomach even longer. What I've also read is that bouts can usually last for three months...which mine did eight years ago. I am now in my third week of my latest bout and am starting to feel better. Hope this helps everyone out there suffering with this AWEFUL condition! God Bless! PS...prayer is always helpful!!!

I too have the constant indegestion from food that never gave me it before. The past few months have been nothing but antacids. I would be constipated for a few days at a time, get heart burn with heart palpitations and lots of gas. The Dr. put me on PROTONIX last week and I haven't had to take any antacids since. I still get a bit of gas but no where near the same as before. It seems to be working and hopefully will keep clearing things up. The Dr. said that I could just have an inflamation and that the medicine will hopefully cure it. Either that or have my Gall Bladder removed. FUN!!! I would check with your doctors to see if PROTONIX might help any of you or if it is something else. Good Luck!!!
