I also deal with health anxiety, and I understand how scary that is. I've been to five doctors (2 family practice, an ER doctor, a cardiologist, and a surgeon) this year myself, and even had surgery to have my gall bladder removed. Besides the gall bladder, no one can find anything wrong. I was starting to think of going another route and seeing a naturopathic doctor, when I saw the infomercial for the program, and it really struck a chord with me.

I'm only on week one of the program, but it has helped some, and I have hopes that I will continue to improve. I want to be free of this health anxiety, and instead of obsessing every time I feel my heart pick up the pace, or my throat feels a little tight, or a muscle in my back or chest tightens up, I want to go through my day without worrying whether I'm going to die of some strange disease or not!

So far, I have felt like I am taking 2 steps forward, and 1 step back. But, as long as we all keep moving forward, we'll get where we're going eventually, right? :)

Best of luck to you!

Morning leavesofgold and welcome!

I am sorry to hear of your struggle with health anxiety but I believe the program will be a blessing and help you alot. Most importantly, I believe your faith will help you through the most. Combining those two and you have a powerhouse! :)

I used to keep praying for God to just deliver me but sometimes we have to walk through something and God walks through it with us. I once heard someone say that God is more concerned about our character than our comfort. I should be quite a character by now! :D

But I got to be the one to do the work to change the way I think and I believe God will meet me there.

Take care.

Welcome!

Tell the prescribing MD that it's been a month and it hasn't worked. Meds like Cymbalta, though, usually take 4-6 weeks to kick in.

I would look for a therapist in your area who does CBT and has worked with health anxiety sufferers.

Hi Jeremy7,

I agree with Charlie and would also suggest a physical therapist or chiropractor to help you with the bulging discs. I have been to both (no surprise there :D) and the physical therapist worked with a C5-C6 disc protrusion I have in my neck. I am not allowed to have a chiro dr. work on my neck as they could injure it further - at least that is what the neurologist said. I know it can be quite painful to have bulging discs but they can help you!

Why did they put you on cymbalta? Do you have depression or Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

I hope you get to feeling better. :) Know that you are not alone.

I hope everyone is ok.

Below are the dates and postings I did for another thread. It involves a health incident last week and how I handled it.
_________

August 17

Today I also have a health concern that I will be seeing my doc tomorrow about. A brief pain stemming from my right groin flashing down to my ankle on and off for almost three hours. I thank God for the CBT I learned in 2006 when my health anxiety was past Mars. Since my doc was gone for the day, I did look up stuff on the net. I wasn't freaking out, I just cautiously wanted to make sure this was something I could wait til tomorrow for. For what I read, it could be muscular or nerve related. Blood clot and DVT came to mine, but even then I wasn't panicking like 4 years ago.

August 18,

He examined me fully and said what I experienced was neuralgia. This is pain in one or more nerves that is produced by a change in neurological structure or function. He said it could occur again but it's nothing. No blood clot or DVT.

Hi Charlie!

Thanks for sharing that victory report! Way to handle health anxiety! I'm also glad to hear that everything is fine. Is there treatment for it or will it just go away?

I hope everyone is doing well also. I have been taking more time to practice my breathing and also just started reading "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook." So far, it's pretty much what I already know but maybe as I get further into it, I'll learn something. :)

Peace. ;)

Hello everyone! I found this video on youtube and I think it is an awesome testimony from someone who has gone through Lucinda's program. He shares about health anxiety. I hope that it encourages you as it did me.
