Hi there. I take 60 mg at bedtime. Sometimes I think I don't need it but one night I fell asleep before taking it and boy could I tell the difference the next day. I was short with everyone. As for the neck and back pain -I've found my answer in Physical Therapy. I've been going for about a month now. They gave me 5 very easy exercises to do at home. (so simple they feel silly to do) When I go in for my therapy 3X a week they start with heat on the shoulder and back for 15 min. then I do 3 of my exercises, then a pulley system with weights and then they do these holds that are amazing. The headaches just disappear. I am on it for Migraine headaches & chronic daily tension headaches. My doctor's diagnosis - I don't know how to relax. (LOL) I have muscle relaxers and hydrocodone that I'd like to get off of - it hasn't happened yet but that's my goal.
I'm getting better but I get alot of stress at work - I'm in commercial lending and I am married to a wonderful husband who's job situation has changed since Katrina hit and he is now home 24/7, I also have 2 teenagers. Fun, fun, fun....
Another tip the therapists suggested - put a tennis ball in your shoulder blade and either lay on it or lean up against a wall and rub where it hurts. Another tip is to take a towel and put it across your shoulders and neck at the point where it hurts and pull forward - this aligns it again.
This has worked for me but you should check with your doctor to make sure these tips are healthy for you.
Hope my experiences have helped someone. My best resource has been a book called:
"The Relaxation Workbook" It's awesome for helping with relaxation and an excellent extra to go with Lucinda's program. Try it - it helps.

cymbalta anybody try it???
yes, i'm on cymbalta, too. i like it because the only side effect i feel is dizziness. (i have to get that checked out.) i thought i'd feel less pain--but. . . .
my chiroprator gave me a great technique, before he moved. (that i probably should start doing again). take three towels. ( i'm petite so i used hand towels) roll them so that they're the width of your wrist. place one under your neck, one under your back/under your navel and one under your kness. with these in place lie w/your hands on your side for about 15 min., 3x a day. (if it causes more pain--stop!)

Hi I just stopped taking cymbalta. I had a lot of side effects when I was on it. I was on it for 1 year. I went through hell when I stopped it. I threw up for two days,I also had a migrane headache. I have been off of this drug for a week now & I still am having withdrawl symptoms that are very hard to explain to you if you have never had them before. Lori
I am on cymbalta for the second time in two years...... i was on it for a year the first time, then i reduced my med. and got off it slowly. I had some side affects, like dry mouth, and some dizziness. But I take mine at bedtime as well. It helps so much. I recently relapsed into anxiety and slight depression so I decided to get back on the medicine cause i liked it so much. I do take xanax every so often, but i hate xanax, always want to go to bed when i take it. Cymbalta is far the best medicine I have researched and heard about. I love it. So hang in there, it does take up to 6 weeks to get into your system. Some people it takes longer, some it takes less. Just know it does help with everything from body aches to depression and axiety. Hope you are doing great.
I have been taking Cymbalta for about a month now for my generalized anxiety and a chronic nerve & muscle pain condition I suffer from.Originally posted by sherybery:
Hi i was wondering if anyone has tried cymbalta for depression,???? thanks
I am on a the lowest dose @ 20mg and it has been amazing. I am extremely anxious person (I have both GAD & panic) and I was terrified to take anything. It took me several months to get up the nerve to take that pill because I was in such a state of high anxiety.
I am so glad I did. I also take .5 ativan as needed for panic, which I rarely have to take at this point in time.
If you take it and it does not work after a certain amount of time, you may need to have your dosage increased. Your physician should monitor you.
For side effects, I experienced nausea, dry mouth, yawning (a lot!), some lightheadedness at first and they all went away. The first week I felt like a zombie, the 2nd week I felt so much more energized and it just got better from there.
I have taken paxil and zoloft in the past but had major weight gain.
Cymbalta has been FDA approved to treat depression, generalized anxiety, and a number of chronic pain conditions.
In addition to the medication, I use Lucinda's program- I really like her voice and find it relaxing at night when falling asleep.
I wish you the best of luck!
