Jolt of panic right before sleep!
Great advice , so many different but positive ways to look at the situation. I myself have this at night, i drift off for what seems to be hrs but really is like 10 or 20 mins, jump up with racing heart fear that i am dying. I am learning to ignore it, its been going on for over a year and i am not dead yet ( thank god) i am sure its stress related, we work all day, have to tend to our mate, kids ect....

oh my gosh, this happens to me every night too!! Im reading From Panic to Power right now, a book by Lucinda Bassatt and it made me want to find a website, and i found this and had to sign up cause so many people are having the same problems. it makes me feel so much better knowing that these little things i obsess over are happening to so many people.
this is a great site

Does anyone wake up and see strange things while they have their nightly "jolt"? I have had this for years and have to take a small dose of trazadone to get the edge off. I will try to sleep without it,almost get to sleep and I feel like as though I wake up gasping for breath and at the same time see things like childrens toys on the wall! Very weird.
This has been my biggest problem. It's really the only time I have to really think about things. I found some really good Chamomile tea w/ Lavender. It has I think 1200 mg. of chamomile in it. You can find it with the organic foods. It relaxes me and settles me down. Sometimes I drink this and take a sleeping pill. It eventually works. I do realize that knowing it's just anxiety will help me to work past it. It's challenging though isn't it?
Dailyobsession,
When my panic attacks were at their worst I had this. The good news is it's been 9 years since I had them so bad they brought me out of sleep with shakes, heart racing, sweating and a quick trip to the bathroom. And of course there was all the thoughts of I'm going crazy because I had already figured out I was not going to die or I would be dead.
Now I get panic attacks every once in awhile and they usually come when I'm really stressed.
Hang in there!

I can relate.........I may have a challenging day.....intimidating phone calls, meeting demands under pressure......before I would freak out but I have learned to stay calm in the midst of the storm......but as time passes that day, when everything settles down and gets quiet.........Here comes the tightening of the chess and feeling like sufficient oxygen is not being received. I acknowledge what its from and then let it go and then it passes, but I am seeing a pattern as you have mentioned.
