I have some eating issues and i had noticed that when my eating is poor my anxiety increases. I catually though that the eating problems were a symptom of the anxiety but I am going to try and gauge my sugar in relation to the anxiety. Thanks.

One thing I have learned is I don't tolerate fruit well. But I have found that lower sugar varieties such as berries I do ok with. I stay away from apples, oranges, bananas, pineapple (waaaaa my favorite) and ones that have a higher sugar content. Still I can only handle so much.

I'm reading a Christian book about Small Changes for a Better Life that talks about both gluttony and the bad foods we overindulge in. It says both will fog our minds, drain our strength and leave us sleepy. Sounds like you've hit on a wonderful idea with that diet!

Pasta is one of the worst for me, personally. I am guaranteed heart pounding if I eat it and that, of course, would cause me to go into "panic mode".

You're right about the addictive nature of sugar. I find that having had a history of addiction in my teen years, sugar simply replaced alcohol, smoking, etc.

Once I'm off of it, I don't crave it. I'll crave fruit and the berries are the least of the sugar evils and I feel great. But I'm a happy eater. I know that sounds weird, but I don't eat sugar when I'm bummed I eat it when I'm "celebrating" or something great at work has happened. Once you start, like you said, your body craves it more and more.

Argh.......

Well I love berries so I'll have to eat those. I like green apples but I found they do spike my sugar. I'm trying to decide right now if I should get more strips for the blood glucose monitor. I mean it could be a new obsession and I don't need that LOL.

I read something in a book that some foods don't give us a reaction until 24-36 hours or more later. That's pretty weird. . . and now I'm wondering why I'm feeling sort of yucky today. . .another thing to worry about.

Just when I say 'WOW I FEEL GREAT' then I have one bad day but hey. . . at least it's not every day any more so woo-hooo for that!! My hubby has to remind me that nobody feels great every day and it's going to take time to get better not over night.

I also have to be careful not to get too involved in the information overload out there about hypoglycemia. I have to find my "good enough" diet and stick with that, know what I mean?

Some of the folks on the message board I found don't eat even any wheat products or any fruit. . .and I have to have a little bit. :)

I had pasta a week ago and it was whole wheat and I'm still not sure if it was the pasta or possibly some sugar in the sauce ((((shrug))))

I can't even do the wheat pasta. I know it's the "good carbs", but it just hits me in a bad way. I L O V E pasta; Italian food, in general. I miss lasagne!!!!!!!

Yeah well I do too but if that's what it takes I'll do it. I just wish I could figure out what works and what doesn't without trial and error. LOL

I've read about the 24-36 hour thing too but I dunno. I guess it makes sense in some ways. Like if you eat something you are allergic to then it could take up to 3 days to get out of your system and so forth. It just seems weird.

I have strips and sometimes it borders on obsession so good luck with that. At least I know my BS is ok, rarely do I see a number over 120 even after eating.

I understand about the "good enough" diet. that's what I am trying to do also. I'm trying to eat 80% for the good and not worrying about the rest.

I try to avoid wheat if possible due to allergy problems but do eat a variety of other grains like spelt.

I'm not feeling really well today. My one ear is clogged and ringing and I'm a little anxious but wouldn't mind getting out to go to B&N and see about the books you mentioned.

I may do that!
Shif.

If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it.

I'm trying to decide if I should get more strips or not. LOL

As for the 2-3 days thing I wonder too. Seems a bit too far fetched and I don't want to think that hard. ;)

I'm not as worried about my BS getting high more so about it going low. I think that's more of an issue for me.

How do you know you're allergic to wheat? I'm wondering if I am because I hear it's common but I'm not sure how to tell.
