Klonopin Concerns
I went to a hospital with my meds, and three of them didn't make it home with me. Klonopin was one of them and I couldn't get a refill from the doctor- thought I was a drug seeker looking for more. So I came off cold turkey from three tabs a day. Not recommended, but I made it and came off Xanax three times a day too. In the end, it was a blessing. My hubby thinks Klonopin was the most evil thing that I could be on. I think skipping a day for a while would be great. I would do that for a while, then go to every three days. It's not a "nothing" dose that you're on. It's very addictive and not something you should or could just quit. But, you can get there!!!! I did. If I made, I know you can!!! Hang in there and PM message me anytime you need too. I'll be there for you. Good luck! Beverly
the suggested dosage of klonopion for panic disorder is 1mg. a day. i can't see .25 helping very much. klonopin doesn't seem to rid me of anxiety totally like i hear xanax or ativan can but it takes the edge off. i think what the main point is here is quality of life! i've been on K for about 8 months or so and i've always taken LESS then presribed. i do take it daily but not the suggested amount. my goal is to work this program religiously and get to the point where i use klonopin for emergencies only. as a saftey net. to me that sounds like about the greatest life i can imagine right now. go where i want, use the tools from the program and have a saftey vaulve with me in form of a med. i heard that 2. kinds of people have alot of trouble getting off benzos. 1. people who still need them (basically it's the anxiety rebounding or 2. people who abuse them. i talked to alot of pharmacists and have done alot of research and benzo's are almost the #1 prescribed med in the world and a VERY VERY low percentage of people have trouble getting off them when it's the right time. maybe time to switch pdoc's or get a new perspective on the matter. if not do a very very slow taper as suggested by others and eventually it will pass. you'll just have to double up on other things like relaxation, massages, meditation, exercise, a support group and anything else out there that can help...God Bless and best wishes. this is just my .2 cents from experience and research.
All for His praise, glory and the joy it gives Him.

Hey Jersey,
Long time no hear. Very Sorry to hear about your troubles!!! I'm having very similar problems and I found this on a site from a pharmacy technician. I'm having an issue getting below .5 of Klonopin a day. This guy was the first person who actually made sense to me so I'm giving it a shot.
See Below (Slow and Steady):
"The best way to discontinue Klonopin at this point would be to implement a twice daily dosing regimen (0.5 mg, twice daily), under medical supervision. In a period of two weeks, the drug will accumulate to steady-state. Within a period of one month, it will accumulate to 1.5 times that of steady-state. Once the accumulation process is complete, the drug may be gradually reduced as follows:
Weeks 1-4 - Remove 0.125 mg (1/4 of a 0.5 mg tablet) from the morning dose.
Weeks 5-8 - Remove 0.125 mg from the night dose. You are now stabilized on 0.375 mg, b.i.d.
Weeks 9 -12 - Remove 0.125 mg from the morning dose. You are now taking 1/2 of a 0.5 mg tablet (0.25 mg).
Weeks 13-16 - Remove 0.125 mg from the night dose. You are now stabilized on 0.25 mg, b.i.d.
Weeks 17-20 - Remove 0.125 mg from the morning dose. You are now taking 1/4 of an 0.5 mg tablet.
Weeks 21-24 - Remove 0.125 mg from the night dose. You are now stabilized on 0.125 mg, b.i.d.
Weeks 25-28 - Omit the morning dose. Continue to take the 0.125 mg night dose.
Week 32 - The Klonopin is now discontinued properly."

Dear All,
i have taken Klonopin and felt like it helped me. I visit these rooms, and read the posts, to get a feel of how i really am doing. It took me 1 year to completely withdraw from klonopin, but the key for me, was i had faith in myself. I was given this website and it was very useful in helping me understand and withdraw from klonpin. i hope it helps you and all that read this post.http://benzo.org.uk/manual/index.htm

@crazycatlady: To paint alll patients of any sort with the same brush is a horrid disservice to us all. Does it make me a 'legal' drug addict because I take meds for diabetes, heart problems, thyroid as well as my bi-polar meds? I think you might have shown a little more discretion in the way you worded your post. I don't believe I should have to defend myself on a forum such as this, when doing so exacerbates my mental problems even further.
